BREAKING: Manhattan DA Cancels Grand Jury Meeting, Trump Indictment Delayed

The prospect of Alvin Bragg (D), Manhattan’s District Attorney bringing an indictment against former President Trump, who is Joe Biden’s likely major challenger for the White House in 2024, has been rightly making news the past few days. The unprecedented indictment of a former president of the United States on such a weak case according to many legal scholars has only exacerbated the feeling the justice system is being weaponized in this country. Now two sources have told Fox News that Mr. Bragg has decided to cancel the grand jury meeting that was scheduled to take place today.

Fox News reports that both sources said there was “major dissension” in the DA’s office. One went as far as saying the problem is Mr. Bragg was having great difficulty convincing the grand jury on his charges due to the major weaknesses of his entire case. Sources also said that there was the possibility that Mr. Bragg chooses not to indict the former Republican president.

Mr. Bragg’s case was called “the ultimate Frankenstein” and “patently political prosecution” by Law Professor Jonathan Turley. Alan Dershowitz referred to it as “targeted injustice” and compared to how southern prosecutors acted toward civil rights activists. Legal analysts in the Washington Post similarly expressed concern over the difficulty of the case.

Alvin Bragg has come under fire as he was asked to testify before the Republican controlled House by Jim Jordan (R-OH) and others. In a letter to Bragg they wrote “[y]ou are reportedly about to engage in an unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority: the indictment of a former president of the United States and current declared candidate for that office. This indictment comes after years of your office searching for a basis — any basis — on which to bring charges, ultimately settling on a novel legal theory untested anywhere in the country and one that federal authorities declined to pursue.”

They added in the letter that “[i]f these reports are accurate, your actions will erode confidence in the evenhanded application of justice and unalterably interfere in the course of the 2024 presidential election.” Now some accuse Mr. Bragg of hiding nearly 600 hundred pages of exculpatory evidence from the grand jury. Kyle Becker, a self-described independent journalist and former writer for Fox News,  wrote in a substack post that “Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett on “Hannity” on Tuesday night accused Bragg of the prosecutorial misconduct and furthermore called for the disbarment of the attorneys involved in the travesty of justice.”

Mr. Becker reviewed the voluminous adverse perspectives against Mr. Bragg’s case. He noted that Robert Costello, Michael Cohen’s former attorney “was called as a key witness in the New York grand jury investigation into former President Donald Trump’s alleged payment to adult actress Stormy Daniels. Costello claimed that testimony from the former Trump attorney is ‘far from solid evidence.’ Costello told reporters following his testimony that Cohen is ‘totally unreliable’ in the probe against Trump. He added that the disgraced lawyer is ‘a convicted perjurer.'”

All of these facts have certainly added to Mr. Bragg’s headaches and if Fox News sources speak true it may have played a major role in him suspending the grand jury meeting today.
