WATCH: Biden Makes Absurd Claims to Push Gun Control as Nation Reels From Nashville Shooting

While visiting the Wolfspeed semiconductor plant in Durham, North Carolina on Tuesday, President Joe Biden railed against ‘assault weapons,’ and called for more preventative action against gun violence.

“What in God’s name are we doing? I never thought, when I started my public life, that guns would be the number one killer of children in America,” Biden stated.

Biden would go on to add that the nation owes the parents of children lost to gun violence more than just “our prayers,” renewing his call for congressional Republicans to pass an assault weapons ban, adding, “There’s a moral price to pay for inaction.”

The president would press Republican lawmakers specifically, stating, “I want you to know who isn’t doing it [supporting gun control], who isn’t helping, to put pressure on them.”

While delivering a speech in front of the plant, Biden would state the claim that a bullet from an AR-15, “Blows up when it’s inside your body.”

“But the velocity with which it [A bullet from an AR-15] comes out of that muzzle – what it does when it hits the body, most bullets would go straight through and out. But it blows up once it’s inside your body,” Biden would tell reporters.

The president also claimed that you are not allowed to own an automatic weapon, machine gun, or flamethrower.

“Everybody thinks somehow the 2nd Amendment is absolute. You’re not allowed to go out and own an automatic weapon,” he said. “You’re not allowed to own a machine gun. You’re not allowed to own a flamethrower. You’re not allowed to own so many other things.”

While there are laws in place nationally that prohibit the purchase of newly made machine guns/automatic weapons, American citizens are not barred from owning flamethrowers for personal use.

This morning, prior to departing for North Carolina, President Biden told reporters, “I have done the full extent of my executive authority … about guns … I can’t do anything except plead with Congress to act reasonably.”

These statements from the president come with a renewed push for stronger gun control legislation in the wake of the shooting at a Nashville Christian school Monday that took the lives of three adults and three children.

Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-CA) tweeted Tuesday that Democrats, “Have a plan. Democrats will ban assault weapons and pass universal background checks because it’s our duty to defend Americans.”

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) tweeted, “Weapons of war used to slaughter children have no place in a civilized society.”
