WATCH: Trump Goes Into Detail About His Christian Faith, Says He Feels The Power Of Prayer - 'I Am A Very Proud Christian'

On Tuesday evening, presumptive GOP nominee and 45th President Donald Trump joined Fox News's Laura Ingraham for a town hall in Greenville, South Carolina, ahead of the state's Republican primary on February 24. During the discussion, Trump revealed that he prays regularly and feels the power of American Christians who pray for his safety.

"Do you pray regularly," host Laura Ingraham asked. "I pray," Trump responded.

"I mean, if you don't mind me asking, I know this is a faith-filled audience here, and I know there are people across the globe who pray for you and your safety. They're worried about your safety," the Fox host said. "Do you feel that? Do you feel the power of that?"

"I do, but can I be honest? I worry about their safety too," the leader of the Republican Party explained. "Everyone in this room is in great danger right now. We have a nuclear weapon that, if you hit New York, South Carolina, is going to be gone too. I worry about their safety. I think it's the reason that I'm doing this. I'm worried about this country."

"This country is in such trouble. We have incompetent people running our country right now," he continued. "The only thing they are good at is being vicious. They're vicious, horrible people. And that's what they're good at. They're good at the election stuff and demeaning people."

During a speech at the National Religious Broadcasters International Christian Media Convention in Nashville on Thursday, Trump highlighted the importance of the church in American life. "Remember, every communist regime throughout history has tried to stamp out the churches, just like every fascist regime has tried to co-opt them and control them," Trump told the audience. "And, in America, the radical left is trying to do both."

"They want to tear down crosses where they can and cover them up with social justice flags," Trump said, as reported by the Associated Press. "But no one will be touching the cross of Christ under the Trump administration, I swear to you."

"The left is trying to shame Christians," the 45th president added. "They're trying to shame us. I'm a very proud Christian." A HarrisX poll released in September 2023 found that 53 percent of Republican voters view Trump as a person of faith, likely due to Trump's more regular comments about his faith.
