On Friday night, the streets of Atlanta were filled with chaos as riots broke out downtown thanks to calls from a local Antifa chapter to have a “night of rage” in response to one of their members being shot by police officers in self-defense.

Downtown Atlanta was overcome with a lengthy riot that led to property damage, a police car being set aflame, and an assault on the Atlanta Police Foundation with rocks and fireworks, as reported by Fox News.

“The city of Atlanta and the Atlanta Police Department will not tolerate this, and we continue to protect the right to peacefully protest. We will not tolerate violence or property destruction,” explained Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. “The Atlanta Police Department and our law enforcement partners are fully engaged and have the resources to protect our residents, our visitors, and our businesses in this city.”

“My message is simple to those who seek to continue this type of criminal behavior: We will find you and we will arrest you and you will be held accountable,” the mayor said. “We have arrested several of them this evening, and Chief Schierbaum will give you the details on that. Many of them don’t even live in Atlanta or in the state of Georgia and they don’t represent the voices of Atlantans.”

“And some of them were found with explosives on them,” he remarked. “You heard that correctly — explosives — and that has led to a police officer’s car being set on fire. And other destruction has occurred.”

ATLANTA’S ‘TREEHOUSE ANTIFA’ CALLS FOR ‘NIGHT OF RAGE’ TO ATTACK POLICE OFFICERS

“So make no mistake about it. These individuals meant harm to people and to property,” the Atlanta mayor added.

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, the rioting was in response to the death of one member of the local Antifa chapter which has attempted to block the construction of the new Atlanta Public Safety Training Center.

While law enforcement attempted to clear the construction site, located in the Weelaunee Forest, of the Antifa militants, one of the Antifa members opened fire on law enforcement leading to one officer being injured.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said in a statement that while conducting a sweep of the wooded area “to identify people who are trespassing and committing other crimes on the property,” a Georgia State Patrol trooper was shot in the abdomen, officers returned fire and shot the assailant fatally.

The chaos seen on the streets of Atlanta Saturday night once again shows the radicalism of those on the far left and highlights the dangerous movement that undergirds their ideology.
