Blue State County Revokes ‘Sanctuary’ Status For Illegal Immigrants As Fentanyl Becomes Overwhelming

Butler County, Pennsylvania, has bucked the trend of other PA counties and the Democrat-led state government from Harrisburg by terminating its status as a designated “sanctuary county.” In other words, county officials will no longer obstruct the actions of federal immigration enforcement. At present, other cities and counties such as Philadelphia and Allegheny County actively work against Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

According to WTAE-TV, the Butler County Prison Board clarified its working relationship with ICE. The new policy guidance demonstrates that the county prison will accept and act upon ICE detainer orders that have an attached warrant and will provide the immigration enforcement agency with a list of inmates weekly. ICE agents will be permitted access to the facility and inmates as appropriate to conduct their duties.

WPXI-TV reported that the decision was a unanimous vote by the board.

Richard Goldinger, the county district attorney, explained that “Our crime is not just DUIs and retail theft anymore. We have drugs.” And he wasn’t talking about the local variety either.

“Again, that stuff has not come from citizens that are making fentanyl in Butler County. It’s being brought here.”

State Rep. Stephenie Scialabba, a leader behind the effort spurred on by a constituent told WTAE, “The sanctuary designation did not reflect our intentions or practices. We are a county of security and law and order.”

Kim Geyer, a Butler County Commissioner told the local outlet that the so-called ‘sanctuary designation,’ “created a lot of heartache and angst,” for the citizens of the community who felt the policy didn’t represent them.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data demonstrates that 85% of the county’s 5,100 overdose deaths were opioid-related. Compared to the 2005 figure of 1,700 that presents an astonishing spike of over 200%.

According to Breitbart, officials in the radical leftist bastion of San Francisco are even investigating a move to end the city’s once boastfully advertised status as a sanctuary city and a haven for “undocumented migrants.” This owes to a drastic increase in drug crimes as well. Breitbart observed that the illegal aliens are “being charged with drug trafficking, particularly fentanyl.”
