A man was shot and killed during a home invasion late Thursday night in Vancouver, Washington. The would-be burglar attempted to climb through a window to steal the homeowner’s valuable possessions.

Officers were called to the scene around 11:20 p.m. where they were told that the intruder broke the second-story window of the Vancouver home, went inside, and confronted the homeowner, per Breitbart.

The homeowner proceeded to shoot the thief and police found the suspect dead upon arrival, per KATU. Luckily the homeowner was armed, otherwise, he could have joined countless others who have lost their lives in recent months thanks to initiatives by progressive district attorneys to let criminals roam the streets.

Crime in the city of Vancouver has increased like in many of the American cities in the Pacific Northwest.

The city of Seattle has seen increased crime in recent months as 13 murders took place in the first three months of 2022 and there has been a “95% increase in more shots fired, with a 171% increase in people being shot compared to last year,” according to Police Chief Adrian Diaz, per the Seattle Times.

Similar high crime rates are present in places like Portland, Oregon where there have been 41 murders in the first half of 2022, 1,619 aggravated assaults in from January to July, and a dramatic increase in robberies from 488 in the first half of 2021 to 737 a year later, per the Portland Business Journal.
