The state of Colorado, a sanctuary state led by Democrats, is now busing migrants to New York City in hopes of lessening the burden of immigration on residents. In response, Mayor Eric Adams (D) blasted Gov. Jared Polis (D-CO) for the actions.

Last month, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock (D) declared a state of emergency given the influx of migrants coming to his city writing: “It is at a crisis point right now and cities all over this country are being forced to deal with something we’re not equipped to deal with.”

As Colorado got overwhelmed by migrants crossing the southern border, Gov. Polis decided to bus migrants, much like Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX), to New York City.

“We were notified yesterday that the governor of Colorado is now stating that they are going to be sending migrants to places like New York and Chicago,” Adams explained on a radio appearance, as reported by Breitbart. “This is just unfair for local governments to have to take on this national obligation.”

It seems like other state governments are following Abbott’s lead and attempting to nationalize the problem by busing migrants across the country. Last month, Gov. Abbott announced that over 15,000 migrants had been shuttled to liberal cities like Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York City, and Chicago, as reported by the DC Enquirer.

For November, Customs and Border Patrol reported that they had 233,740 migrant encounters, marking the highest rate ever for the month of November.

The nearly quarter of a million encounters dwarfs last year’s November rate of 174,845 and showcases the extent to which the border crisis has worsened in the past year.

The total number of migrant encounters for the 2022 fiscal year stands at 2,214,652, and that’s without including the migrants who slipped past Border Patrol undetected.

The Biden administration is doing a disservice in not fulfilling their “national obligation.” Mayor Adams may be unwilling to blame Biden for the influx of migrants into his city but it is clear that without the president taking more strident action towards securing the southern border, the issue will continue to persist for both places like Texas and Colorado as well as the Big Apple.
