On Monday, in response to the January 6th Committee passing down a criminal referral for former President Donald Trump for obstruction, insurrection, and conspiracy to make false statements, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) said that the Democrats would be held accountable for their “abuse of power.”
“House Democrats and Vicious Never Trumpers, who were run out of Congress by the American people, continue to desperately and unconstitutionally target President Trump and Republicans,” Stefanik wrote in a statement on Monday.
“The American people see through this partisan charade, which is why they fired Nancy Pelosi once and for all,” Rep. Stefanik continued. “The Republican Majority will hold House Democrats accountable for their illegitimate abuse of power.”
The committee is largely made up of Democrats with the two Republican exceptions being Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), both of whom will not be in the next Congress beginning January 3rd, per Newsmax.
The former president also had a few words to share on Truth Social about the January 6th Committee’s decision: “I see where the Unselect Committee, using the Democrat’s favorite weapon, DISINFORMATION, is trying to make the case that I didn’t really believe I won the Election. This is a total LIE.”
‘OUT OF CONTROL’ WARSHIP CAPSIZES & SINKS, 23 SAILORS MISSING – ‘SHIP’S OPERATING SYSTEMS’ FAILED
“I never thought, for even a moment, that the Presidential Election of 2020 was not Rigged & Stolen, and my conviction became even stronger as time went by,” Trump wrote. “Now, with all of the massive evidence that has come to light, including recently with the FBI suppression of Election changing information, I was 100% RIGHT!”
Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) also had choice words for the representatives sitting on the committee: “Now that the J6 Committee released its tainted report recommending charges against Trump, I stand today to expose the truth.”
“This committee has always had one thing in common—the utter contempt for President Trump,” the Texan continued. “The American people know this committee has produced a report filled and lies and misinformation.”
“The J6 Committee wants America to blame Trump,” the representative added. “I will not allow the Democrats or anyone else to cast blame on Trump.”
With the Republicans taking control of the House at the start of the new year, the grassroots will see if Stefanik and other Republicans will hold true to their word and hold the House Democrats accountable.
