MAJOR VICTORY: In Major Blow to Anti-Gun Democrats, A Twelfth Campus Carry State is Declared — Students Can Now Defend Themselves

West Virginia’s Republican Governor Jim Justice signed a new campus carry bill into law this week making the Mountain State the 12th state in the union to allow university students the right of self-defense on campuses.

According to Breitbart, Justice reacted to the passage of the bill by promising to sign it in a “matter of seconds” of it hitting his desk.

WTRF-TV reported that the new bill, allows institutions to limit the carrying of concealed firearms at organized events taking place at a stadium or arena with a capacity of more than 1,000 spectators, daycare facilities located on university property, and a few other exceptions.”

The newly enacted bill will allow people holding current and active concealed carry licenses in the state to carry a concealed pistol or revolver on campuses and institutions of higher education.

Breitbart reported that at the signing ceremony, Governor Justice told those gathered,

“We awaken over and over and over, whether it be television broadcast or whatever it may be, to see a catastrophe happening a lot of different places in our nation many, many, many times. … Without question, when that situation happens, if we have gun-completely-free areas, to where absolutely, without any question, there is no way we can defend ourselves, then it seems those are the targets that are targeted many, many, many times.”

He told reporters that the times had indeed changed, that prayer and pledge have been pulled from our schools and respect for law enforcement is gone, adding “if we don’t try to at least put stakes in the sand and say, ‘By God, we’re not going to do this anymore.'”

He explained, “Today, does anybody here not think, that has a brain in your head, that just because we don’t have this, campus carry, that people can’t bring guns on campuses for evil?”

The new law is set to become effective on July 1, 2024, at which point West Virginia will join ArkansasColoradoGeorgia, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin.
