On Tuesday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was recommended to sit on two important committees that will define the GOPs work for the next two years in the 118th Congress.

The GOP Steering Committee, made up of about 30 members, recommended Greene for the House Oversight Committee as well as the House Homeland Security Committee.

While the full Republican conference has to vote on Greene’s potential committee assignments, it is likely that she would be approved given her backing by the Steering Committee.

“The House GOP Steering Committee — which is stacked with leadership members & allies — makes recommendations about other committee assignments, and then they still need to be ratified by the full GOP,” explained CNN’s Melanie Zanona, as reported by The Daily Wire. “But typically, the conference approves whatever Steering recommends.”

In response to the recommendations, Greene released a statement explaining her priorities for the next two years:

“Joe Biden, be prepared. We are going to uncover every corrupt business dealing, every foreign entanglement, every abuse of power, and every check cut for the Big Guy,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote in a statement about her Oversight Committee assignment. “The Big Guy” is in reference to Hunter Biden’s alleged foreign business dealings and the potential that Joe Biden profited from them.

“And it’s not just the Biden Crime Family, the GOP majority will investigate every bit of government being used to abuse the American people,” Greene continued. “Every three and four-letter agency will now have to answer to Republican oversight, not the rubber-stamp of Democrat rule.”

“I can’t wait to get started and look forward to my assignment being ratified next week by the entire GOP conference,” she said in conclusion.

While Greene is looking forward to holding the Biden administration accountable alongside her colleagues, she is also optimistic about her post on the Homeland Security Committee. She plans to hold President Biden and the Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas accountable for their purposeful neglect of the crisis at the southern border.

“Our Southern border is being invaded by millions of illegal aliens, criminals, and potential terrorists. Our People are being murdered by Chinese fentanyl flooding in from the cartels. Our Border Patrol and ICE agents have their hands tied and have been turned into a welcoming committee by the Biden administration. Cyber attacks continue on our nation’s people and businesses along with many more threats to our homeland.”

“It’s time for accountability with Republicans in charge,” the Georgia representative stated. “We will investigate the Biden administration’s violations of our laws and fund (and defund) programs to defend our border and American sovereignty.”

In February 2021, Greene was stripped of her committee assignments on the Budget Committee and the Committee on Education and Labor by Democrats due to previous statements she made from before her time in Congress.

It is good to see Greene back on committees and able to hold the Biden administration accountable in the process. She has proven to be a relentless conservative who will make sure that the Biden administration is held to account for their lackluster and neglectful governance the past two years.
