WATCH: Matt Gaetz Exposes Drag Queen Story Hours, Humiliates Military Leadership

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, expressed astonishment when Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) presented reports of “kid-friendly” drag queen story hours being hosted on military bases according to an article from Just The News. The general requested copies of the news items that Mr. Gaetz cited and commented that “I’d like to take a look at those because I don’t agree with those. I think those things shouldn’t be happening.” Secretary of Defense Austin Lloyd took a different approach by denying that the Department of Defense supported or funded without explaining why such events were happening.

Mr. Gaetz summed up the entire exchange when he took to social media to write “General Mark Milley commits to ENDING drag queen story hour events on military bases after I presented evidence to him during today’s House Armed Service Committee hearing. @SecDef Austin however denied that they were happening at all…” and attached a video of the over 6 minute exchange.

The video begins with Mr. Gaetz inquiring why Mr. Austin wouldn’t do anything to solicit the re-enlistment of 8,000 service members who were dismissed because of the vaccine mandate. Secretary Austin said he saw no need for him to do so. The Florida Republican  then pointed out that Austin’s department broke the law in its administration of the vaccine mandate according to an Inspector General report. The secretary denied any breaking of the law and insisted lives were saved. Mr. Gaetz shot back that the mandate “ruined the lives of a number of people too.”

After some more discussion about this topic, the legislator then shifted to drag queen story hours on military bases. He asked “how much taxpayer money should go to fund drag queen story hours on military bases?” The Secretary then proceeded to lay down a line that he would repeat afterwards with various iterations.  He simply said that “[d]rag queen story hours is not something that the Department funds.” Mr. Gaetz then cited a number of times when such events were advertised. He pointed out that one advertisement had a “DoD insignia”.

The Sunshine State lawmaker then repeated his question on who funds these events. Mr. Austin then said “Drag shows are not something that the Department of Defense supports or funds.” Gaetz then logically asked “then why are they happening on military bases?” Mr. Austin repeated his previous answer and later when pressed on whether hosting events is equivalent to supporting such events as well as whether he was personally aware of these events kept saying that he stood by that (mendacious) sentiment.

General Milley being perplexed by this revelation,  asked for copies of Mr. Gaetz’s sources and professed that he would “like to take a look at those myself and find out what is actually going on there. That is the first I am hearing about that kind of stuff…I don’t agree with those. I think those things should not be happening.”

Mr. Gaetz would further post about the event in question that “America’s top military leaders have brought misery to almost every part of the globe. Now, they’re trying to bring the misery and ruin home to our country through this embrace of ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ and Drag Queen Story Hours on military bases.”
