On Tuesday, it was discovered that the New Mexico state government had been referring women seeking abortions to go to the Satanic Temple’s (TST Health) which will then provide them with an “abortion ritual” to terminate the baby's life.
The New Mexico Alliance For Life released the discovery in a statement where they reported that they had investigated public records to find that the government abortion hotline was sending people to the TST Health abortion clinic. The clinic touts itself as “the world’s first religious abortion clinic” and proudly brags about its baby-killing activities.
The group has specifically targeted New Mexico, with its website noting that “Launching Samuel Alito’s Mom’s Satanic Abortion Clinic in New Mexico is just the first step for TST Health.” The group is intending on expanding its operations outside of the Land of Enchantment, stating that it was intending to even expand to states where religious abortion practice is banned.
The group has attempted to argue that its “abortion rituals” are exempt from any state or federal restrictions, saying, “bans on an essential part of a religious practice are unconstitutional and a violation of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.”
“Why are taxpayers of New Mexico forced to promote the satanic temple religious abortion center through the pro-abortion governor’s hotline,” said Elisa Martinez, New Mexico Alliance for Life executive director. “Is the state of New Mexico fully disclosing to women that 'TST Health' is a satanic ritualistic abortion center and that abortion is not a life-saving procedure--that it involves the ending of an innocent human life?”
The group also notes that the line refers expecting mothers to a number of agencies outside of the state of New Mexico, writing, “New Mexico Alliance for Life found that only 13 of the 33 abortion clinics women are referred to are in-state businesses, while 20 are out-of-state.”
Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM) has been an open supporter of abortion rights and established the hotline back in June of this year, per ABC News. The hotline assists in providing women access to abortion clinics as well as transportation and other assistance that may be needed. Grisham has also noted that she intended to further build out the hotline.
The state has also seen a large jump in abortions since the ending of Roe v. Wade, with the New Mexico Alliance for Life noting that in their statement. “In 2021, New Mexico abortion businesses reported 4,900 abortions. That number jumped to 11,000 in 2022. In 2023, New Mexico abortion businesses ended the lives of 5,300 innocent babies.”
The hotline is already something that is an immense slap in the face to pro-lifers within the state but the added fact that it also refers individuals to the Satanic Temple’s abortion clinic is the extra salt on the wound that goes too far. Abortion and the preservation of life is an extremely delicate issue in America and the Satanic Temple has made it clear they find no value in the life of babies and happily make jokes surrounding it.
