Oregon Woman Sentenced to Years in Prison After Biting Earlobe Off Security Guard

An Oregon woman, Ashlie Clark, was sentenced to 70 months in prison this week after she bit off an earlobe of a security guard after he caught her shoplifting.

The 31-year-old was sentenced on Friday for second-degree assault and first-degree robbery, according to a press release from the Washington County, Oregon District Attorney.

“Senior Judge John Collins sentenced Clark to 70 months in prison, followed by three years of post-prison supervision,” the press release notes.

“On July 22, 2022, Clark shoplifted over $800 worth of merchandise from Nordstrom at the Washington Square Mall in Tigard,” the press release explains. “As she exited the store without paying for the merchandise, loss prevention officers confronted her with the theft.”

“She physically resisted and yelled obscene comments as they attempted to recover the stolen items,” the district attorney’s office wrote. “During the struggle, she bit the earlobe of one of the loss prevention officers, removing at least a half inch of the victim’s earlobe.”

Following the incident, Clark was arrested by the Tigard Police Department without further incident. The security guard’s earlobe could not be reattached after being taken to the hospital.

Upon her arrest, she provided a false name and date of birth to authorities because she had two warrants out for her arrest.

“The Washington County District Attorney’s Office acknowledges the work of the Tigard Police Department, and the Nordstrom loss prevention team, and Washington Square Mall security for their assistance in this investigation,” the press release noted, adding, ” The defendant will be transferred to the Oregon Department of Corrections to begin her sentence.”
