On Monday, Project Veritas claimed that YouTube officials gave a document to employees regarding how to handle the Pfizer ‘Directed Evolution’ video released by the news outlet last week.
The memo, which went into effect on January 27th states, “The video, when uploaded in its entirety, contains a timestamp that violated the ‘COVID-19 Vaccine Misinformation‘ policy for making a categorical claim that COVID-19 vaccines are ineffective, and should therefore be removed unless it contains sufficient EDSA/CRC.”
On January 25th, Project Veritas released a bombshell video of a man, identified as Jordan Walker, Pfizer’s Director of Research and Development, Strategic Operations – mRNA Scientific Planner, claiming that the company has been considering mutating the COVID-19 virus through a process known as ‘Directed Evolution’ in monkeys in order to develop new vaccines. As of publishing, the video has 28.3 million views on Twitter and 1.3 million views on YouTube. YouTube then took down the video on January 27th.

In a follow-up video, Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe confronts Walker about the claims made. Walker then becomes visibly distraught and defensive, claiming that he made up most of what he said because he was trying to impress who he believed was a date. Walker then goes on to take the iPad O’Keefe was holding and smashes it in a complete meltdown.
On Monday, O’Keefe addressed critics of the video, stating, “If YouTube weren’t taking down our video, and large multinational corps weren’t telling journalists not to cover stories, there wouldn’t be a need for people like me.”
Pfizer has responded to the claims made by Project Veritas. In a statement released last Friday, Pfizer stated, “In the ongoing development of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, Pfizer has not conducted gain of function or directed evolution research. Working with collaborators, we have conducted research where the original SARS-CoV-2 virus has been used to express the spike protein from new variants of concern. This work is undertaken once a new variant of concern has been identified by public health authorities. This research provides a way for us to rapidly assess the ability of an existing vaccine to induce antibodies that neutralize a newly identified variant of concern.”
Project Veritas also rented an LED truck and placed it outside of Pfizer headquarters on Tuesday, with the truck playing the videos released by Veritas on a loop with the hashtag #DIRECTEDEVOLUTION plastered on the truck.
There has already been a backlash against the pharmaceutical giant in the wake of the video’s release. On January 27th, 16 members of the Michigan State Legislature signed a letter demanding that Pfizer “Inform the public regarding the legitimacy of the video. Pfizer must hold itself accountable to restore trust in the integrity of the company and its employees.”
