Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services Dr. Rachel Levine has drawn the ire of conservatives across social media and the nation Monday with a video statement that, though issued in May, has garnered attention in recent days.
In the May remarks, Levine, a transgender man who presents as a woman, outrageously issues an open call for big tech firms to censor so-called “misinformation” regarding “gender-affirming care for youth and adults,” a euphemistic term for the mutilation and chemical castration of gender dysphoric children and adults.
Levine asserted to the collective horror of many online according to Fox News, that such “gender-affirming care for youth” is something of “positive value.”
Levine said in the video, “So I’d like to just talk briefly about another area of substantial misinformation that is directly impacting health equity in our nation, and that is the health equity of sexual and gender minorities. There is substantial misinformation about gender-affirming care for transgender and gender diverse individuals.”
The divisive figure in the Biden Administration continued to say the nation is “facing an onslaught of anti-LGBTQI+ actions at the state levels across the United States,” characterizing the moves by Republican state governments to safeguard children as, “dangerous to the public health.”
Levine continued, making the objectively false claim that, “The positive value of gender-affirming care for youth and adults is not in scientific or medical dispute.” Adding, “we need to use our clinicians voice to collectively advocate for our tech companies to create a healthier, cleaner information environment.”
This blatant, government-approved disinformation comes despite the robust testimonies and arguments presented by groups such as Gays Against Groomers and The American College of Pediatricians as well as the growing #DeTransition movement.
Independent journalist Ian Miles Cheong observed in a tweet, “You’re not allowed to criticize Rachel Levine on other social media platforms. You will be banned.”
Republican Congressman Warren Davidson of Ohio countered Levine’s argument using the doctor’s ex-officio rank as Admiral of The U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps in a Twitter reply to Cheong.
He wrote, “Admiral asserts ‘need’ for Ministry of Truth. To deny this: xy ≠ xx. It takes male & female to reproduce. Every egg is x. Sperm is y or x. At conception (save exceedingly rare cases), the baby human is xy (male) or xx (female). Nothing changes reality. Embrace the science.”
