Republican National Committee (RNC) Chair Ronna McDaniel said Friday that she would be willing to debate her opponents, Mike Lindell and Harmeet Dhillon, for the upcoming election of the RNC Chair. She would not, however, do so in a public forum.
McDaniel appeared on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” to discuss the upcoming election. She was asked if she would engage with her opponents in a debate for the coveted position to control the direction of the Republican Party.
“Would you be open to having Harmeet [Dhillon] and Mike Lindell, the two people that have thrown their hat in the ring, to do a Q&A, to do it like a debate and to defend your record?” Bannon asked, according to JustTheNews.
Her response, however, was something to be desired. “I’m always happy to talk to the 168,” she said referring to the RNC’s 168 voting members.
“I’m interested in doing things in front of the 168. That’s what I’m interested in doing,” she explained when prompted on whether or not she would debate her opponents in public.
McDaniel has faced mounting pressure from the grassroots of the Republican Party to step aside as RNC Chair after an abysmal showing in the 2022 elections. Many Republicans were expecting to win the Senate and have a substantial majority in the House, however, those aspirations did not come to fruition.

Key Republicans have called for her ousting. Lee Zeldin, who ran as the Republican nominee for the New York governorship in the 2022 midterms and was floated as a potential replacement for McDaniel, wrote on Twitter earlier this month that McDaniel should be unseated.
“RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel should not run for a 4th term,” he said. “I won’t be running for RNC Chair at this time with McDaniel’s reelection pre-baked by design, but that doesn’t mean she should even be running again. It’s time the GOP elects new leadership! It’s time for fresh blood!”
“As for the Republican Party, it must become more successful at fundraising, more efficient with spending, sharper with ballot collection and election integrity efforts, smarter with messaging, more present in Democrat strongholds, and more connected to the grassroots.” Zeldin explained in a statement, adding that the grassroots “is frustrated, deflated and defeated.”
“Republican voters already believe that Washington, D.C. is an irredeemable swamp. They will be proven right, yet again, if Chairwoman McDaniel moves forward with running for a fourth term, despite her prior pledge not to do so,” he emphasized. “The better path forward would be for Chairwoman McDaniel to listen to and respect the wishes of the actual grassroots voters of our party, and allow the RNC to forge ahead with new leadership.”
McDaniel is dead set on winning a fourth term as the RNC Chair, however, the 168 voting RNC members will hopefully listen to the grassroots and vote for new leadership after the disastrous midterm showing under McDaniel’s watch.
