Senate Republicans React to Trump Indictment

Senate Republicans reacted Thursday to the announcement of an indictment of former President Donald Trump by Manhatten District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

“Tonight’s indictment of Donald Trump isn’t about the law. It’s about power. Raw power.” Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) tweeted. “It’s the Democrat Party telling the nation they will stop at nothing to control the outcome of the next presidential election. It is an assault on our democracy, pure and simple”

“The Democrat Party’s hatred for Donald Trump knows no bounds. The “substance” of this political persecution is utter garbage,” tweeted Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX). “This is completely unprecedented and is a catastrophic escalation in the weaponization of the justice system.”

Freshman Senator JD Vance (R-OH), called out the blatant hypocrisy of DA Bragg’s indictment in a tweet Thursday, “A week ago a video circulated of a lunatic harassing a family on a New York subway. He hurled racial slurs (the family was white) and threatened them. Alvin Bragg thinks that man should walk free and Donald Trump should go to jail for a fake misdemeanor. It’s despicable.”

Let’s call this what it is: a political prosecution from a rogue DA who campaigned on indicting @RealDonaldTrump. The American people will see through this prosecutorial misconduct,” Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) tweeted.

Freshman Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) tweeted, “The Manhattan DA’s partisan prosecution of President Trump is a disgrace. NYC has a real problem with violent crime. Instead of spending so much time targeting his political enemies, Alvin Bragg should focus on doing his job to keep the people of NYC safe.”
