WATCH: Pennsylvania Voters Call On Fetterman to Resign After More Than Six Weeks in Hospital

This past week, CNN took to the streets of Pennsylvania to ask voters what they thought about Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) after he has been hospitalized for over six weeks.

“I don’t think the man is fit for the job,” said one Pittsburgh resident. “It may be he doesn’t have the cognitive ability also.”

When a reporter asked if there was anything that Fetterman could do to prove his eligibility for office, one Pennsylvanian said, “He could resign and turn it over to somebody who is physically fit to handle the job.”

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer in mid-February, Fetterman was checked in to be treated for depression likely caused by his isolation in Washington, D.C., and the difficulties he has had while attempting to adjust to working in the Senate with multiple cognitive handicaps.

“Last night, Senator John Fetterman checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to receive treatment for clinical depression,” said Fetterman’s Chief of Staff Adam Jentleson at the time. “While John has experienced depression off and on throughout his life, it only became severe in recent weeks.”

“On Monday, John was evaluated by Dr. Brian P. Monahan, the Attending Physician of the United States Congress,” he continued. “Yesterday, Dr. Monahan recommended inpatient care at Walter Reed. John agreed, and he is receiving treatment on a voluntary basis. After examining John, the doctors at Walter Reed told us that John is getting the care he needs, and will soon be back to himself,” the chief of staff added.

While Fetterman has been in the hospital for over six weeks getting treated for depression, his constituents are going without a representative in the Senate.

“He’ll be back soon, at least over a week, but soon,” said Fetterman spokesman Joe Calvello this week, as reported by the Washington Times.

Despite such assurances, users on social media are picking apart a photo of Fetterman recently posted on Twitter.

“Is it just me or does John Fetterman’s face look a lot different?” wrote Trending Politics co-owner, Colin Rugg.

As Fetterman’s health continues to be of concern to Pennsylvanians, calls for his resignation are growing.
