WATCH: Rep. Jordan Blasts Biden DOJ Infiltration Of Churches – Sen. Hawley Goes BALLISTIC

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH), whose name has become synonymous with righteous conservative anger and repudiation of leftist abuses of power, has informed the nation that despite the protestations to the contrary by Attorney General Merrick Garland, at least one FBI employee he knows of was tasked with monitoring Catholic Churches to gather intelligence on domestic terrorism.

As reported by The Daily Wire, internal documents released by House Judiciary Committee confirm that FBI leadership strategized around the use of Catholic churches as “new avenues for tripwire and source development.”

The effect of the First Amendment freedom of religion is chilling in particular for the Catholic faithful, particularly given the sacrosanct tradition of confession, known as the Sacrament of Reconciliation in which during a most vulnerable and holy of moments, adherents confess their sins to a priest.

How could a Catholic comfortably bare their sins to their priest and received the forgiveness of Christ if they’re afraid that the FBI could be listening? The Bureau’s “new avenues” could be closing the path to redemption for the Catholic faith.

As Jordan noted in a tweet, “Chilling.”

In a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, Jordan wrote:

“The limited information that was provided to the Committee makes clear that we must possess all responsive material without redactions. From this selective production, we know that the FBI, relying on information derived from at least one undercover employee, sought to use local religious organizations as “new avenues for tripwire and source development.” For example, in a section of the document entitled “Opportunities,” the FBI wrote:

In addition to [redaction], engage in outreach to the leadership of other [Society of Saint Pius X] chapels in the FBI Richmond [area of responsibility] to sensitize these congregations to the warning signs of radicalization and to enlist their assistance to serve as suspicious activity tripwires.

The FBI similarly noted two other opportunities to engage in outreach with religious institutions in the Richmond area, citing a desire “to sensitize the congregation to the warning signs of radicalization and enlist their assistance to serve as suspicious activity tripwires.”

This outreach plan even included contacting so-called “mainline Catholic parishes” and the local “diocesan leadership[].”

The FBI also expressed an interest in “leverag[ing] existing sources and/or initiat[ing] Type 5 Assessments to develop new sources with the placement and access” to report on suspicious activity.

This information is outrageous and only reinforces the Committee’s need for all FBI material responsive to our request.

The documents produced to date show how the FBI sought to enlist Catholic houses of worship as potential sources to monitor and report on their parishioners.”

“Americans attend church to worship and congregate for their spiritual and personal betterment. They must be free to exercise their fundamental First Amendment rights without worrying that the FBI may have planted so-called “tripwire” sources or other informants in their houses of worship.”

Appearing on Fox News‘s Sean Hannity, Jordan excoriated the Department of Justice over the debacle.

‘ANSWER MY QUESTION…ATTORNEY GENERAL!’: WATCH SENATOR HAWLEY BLAST EVASIVE MERRICK GARLAND OVER TRUMP MAR-A-LAGO RAID REVELATIONS

Republican Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) observed in a post on Twitter,

“I wonder how many undercover employees were attending Easter masses across the nation yesterday. This is just another reason why we must defund the FBI/DOJ. They’ve completely departed from their mission.”

Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) questioned AG Garland regarding this practice a matter of weeks ago, and the Biden appointee flatly denied it claiming, “Our department protects all religions, all ideologies. It does not have any bias against any religion of any kind.”

The senator called him out for the apparent lie on Twitter and in his own letter to the Attorney General, writing “Merrick Garland told me – under oath – the FBI was not targeting Catholic parishes. That appears to have been a lie. I want the truth”
