Gaetz Announces New Plan To Charge Former Manhattan Attorney With Contempt Of Congress

On Tuesday, Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) unveiled a remarkable new plan to hold former New York City prosecutor Mark Pomerantz in contempt of Congress. Pomerantz played a role in the sham prosecution of leading Republican presidential contender and 45th President Donald J. Trump, under the watch of Soros-funded Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D).

Gaetz argued in a statement, "I believe Mr. Pomerantz engaged in misconduct in his targeting of President Trump, and his refusal to answer simple questions should not go unpunished. He should be held in contempt of Congress and be compelled to answer the questions regarding the weaponization of the Manhattan DA’s office. If he fails to comply with the congressional subpoena, then the Sergeant at Arms of the House of Representatives must summon him by force."

As Fox News Digital previously reported of Pomerantz, "The House Judiciary Committee grilled him last month for roughly six hours amid their oversight probe into Bragg’s investigation – though Republicans fumed over his refusal to answer any substantive questions."

Gaetz exclusively told Fox News Digital, "He [Pomerantz] lobbied his way onto a prosecutorial team as a private lawyer. He did all he could to gaslight charges against Donald Trump. When the evidence didn't support those charges, he initially got miffed and quit the team and wrote a book about it," Gaetz said. "Now, he has the nerve to assert his Fifth Amendment privilege over these matters when he has clearly explicitly and repeatedly waived that privilege. Contempt is proper where someone refuses to answer Congress's questions under a frivolous assertion."

Gaetz continued his statement in a press release, adding, "Through his lack of testimony, Mark Pomerantz has undoubtedly undermined the legitimacy of this witch hunt indictment against President Donald Trump. Mr. Pomerantz pled the Fifth to nearly every question about his time in the Manhattan DA’s office, despite writing a tell-all book about his time there."

The statement also alleged many of Pomerantz's activities surrounding the investigation into President Trump were suspect.

"On February 7th, 2023, Pomerantz published a book about his experience joining the New York County District Attorney’s Office in February 2021 to work on the investigation of President Donald Trump. On April 6th, 2023, Pomerantz was subpoenaed by the House of Representatives Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government," the statement read.

"After frivolous legal challenges to the subpoena, he appeared under oath for a congressional deposition on May 12th, 2023, after a federal judge told him 'no one is above the law.' However, during his appearance, he failed to comply with the subpoena by incorrectly asserting his Fifth Amendment right when asked questions about information he referenced in his book," the statement added.

All in all, Gaetz is taking significant action to hold the elites accountable. Truly, no one is above the law.
