WATCH: Marjorie Taylor Greene Issues Articles Of Impeachment Against Radical DC District Attorney - 'The Time For Weaponizing The Department Of Justice Needs To Come To An End'

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has submitted articles of impeachment for the D.C. United States District Attorney and January 6th lead prosecutor Matthew Graves. “The time for weaponizing the Department of Justice needs to come to an end," Greene said.

“Mr. Graves, you are the US Attorney for the District of Columbia. You have the unique ability to prosecute both local and federal cases,” Greene begins with. “However, Mr. Graves, your office has declined to prosecute 67 percent of those arrested in 2022. Which means they can’t stay in jail like Chief Cantiez is demanding after his police officers do the hard work of arresting these criminals.”
“Instead, you are solely focused on prosecuting January 6th cases from one single day in our history,” Greene pointed out. “Meanwhile, D.C. crime is up. Total crime is up 27 percent from last year. Carjacking, up 114 percent. Murders, up 11 percent. Sexual abuse, 45 percent. Property crime is up 30 percent. And just yesterday morning, a little innocent twelve-year-old girl was shot while sleeping in her own bed by another rampant, violent criminal who has probably been previously arrested and prosecuted.”

The numbers Rep. Greene brought painted a damning case against Graves. As crimes around the city are entirely up while he continues to allow criminals to be rereleased onto the streets without a proper trial.
Representative Greene stated, “Mr. Graves, your decision not to prosecute 67 percent of the crimes is absolutely criminal itself. People who were charged for murder have been arrested on average eleven times before because you refused to keep them in jail like Chief Contie is demanding.”

While the lives of those victims may not be able to be placed directly onto Graves, it’s undeniable he played a role in allowing the criminals to be in the position to do so.

“You have already abused your position by maliciously prosecuting at least one thousand people from January 6th, but you recently announced that you’re going to arrest at least one thousand more," the Georgia Republican added.

The way Graves is prosecuting members of the January 6th incident shows clear political intentions, avoiding his proper purpose of ensuring safety within the District of Columbia.

Rep. Greene brings up a certain member of the January 6th incident named Matthew Perna. Greene talks of how Perna peacefully entered the Capitol building, only remained within it for approximately twenty minutes and then went on to be cooperative with the FBI investigating the incident, “and eventually plead guilty to all charges. But right before his sentencing, Mr. Graves asked the judge for more time to object to the pre-sentence report. By the way, while you weren’t prosecuting many of the crimes in D.C.”

Two weeks after, Perna, unfortunately, passed away by suicide.

This incident is only a single instance on Graves' part, but Greene states that this is something that has been done “repeatedly” by Graves and his office.

The Department of Justice has been weaponized against Graves’ and the Democrats' enemies and something must be done to ensure the Department of Justice actually stands for justice.
