Two-Time Failed Candidate Stacey Abrams Takes Aim At Mississippi and Kentucky, Says Democrats Can Flip The Conservative Strongholds With Her Strategy

Stacey Abrams (D-GA), the two-time failed candidate for governor of the Peach State, was interviewed by MSNBC where she declared what currently Republican states she thought could be transformed into swing states, according to Breitbart News. She replied that she thought Mississippi and Kentucky were prime targets for such an operation.

"Democracy exists so that we can have the type of society we seek, and that means that we have to have voters who have access to those opportunities and that we have to have districts that allow those voices to truly be heard," Abrams said. "I have an extraordinary patience for this work because I understand that we are not simply changing infrastructure, we’re helping people own their power. For so many, power is terrifying, and if they don’t believe that it’s real, they’re not going to risk it. Part of what helped us in Georgia for so long is that we have the patience of losing some, winning some, but always working towards more."

When a panelist asked her what other southern states were ripe for a Georgia-like transformation, Abrams remarked, "Well, I think that we have an exciting set of elections coming up in Mississippi with Brandon Presley running against a very weakened Tate Reeves. I think Andy Beshear is going to put on a credible race against Daniel Cameron. He has been a strong governor, and that is a real opportunity, and because these are off-year elections, it’s very important that we pay attention to these two southern states that we invest heavily in their success."

Stacey Abrams has claimed that Republican attempts to ensure voter integrity amount to a shadowy voter suppression campaign and for attempting to do "what the insurrectionists [January 6 rioters] sought, doing what the liars asked for." She also claimed to be the true winner of the Georgia 2018 gubernatorial election.

Somehow, despite all those darn 'voter suppression laws' enacted in Republican states, those measures did not dim voter turnout in the 2022 election. Data clearly shows that overall turnout increased. Further, even in Abrams's own state of Georgia, African American voters showed up to vote in larger numbers for early voting in the 2021 senatorial runoff, highlighting the lack of a structural impediment to voting.

Younger black voters are more likely to be willing to ditch the Democratic party and vote Republican than their elders. James Carville, a Democratic campaign manager, referenced the growing problem that his party had with younger black voters and how this demographic was less motivated to turn out for Democratic candidates. "The biggest story in my mind out of 2022 is abysmally low Black turnout...It’s a problem with younger Black voters" Carville commented. This phenomenon of apathy is further documented by various outlets like Politico.
