On Friday, Tucker Carlson shared his open support for Democratic presidential primary candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., sharing how impressed he is with the candidate as both a politician and a person.
Carlson appeared alongside Russell Brand on his show ‘Stay Free with Russell Brand’ where the former Fox News host discussed his fondness for the Democrat.
“Well I love Bobby Kennedy,” Tucker happily said. “I’ve had him on my show many times, he announced for president on my show, which took a lot of stones on his part, given how despised I am by a lot of Democratic primary voters. I think he’s a wonderful person, I’ll say that. I admire him.”
Carlson then shared a story about when he and Kennedy were at a private dinner. The former news host asked how RFK could handle having so many different people come after him for his viewpoints and even having his own siblings denounce him and his views. He contrasted him to Kennedy, saying that “he can’t even imagine what that would be like.” He noted that if he were in a similar situation where his own brother denounced him, he would “shoot [himself].”
But when Kennedy responded to the inquiries from Carlson, the answer completely shocked him. “I got seven children and they all love me, I don’t care,” which left Carlson in disbelief from the absolutely perfect encapsulation of his own values into a single sentence.
Carlson did note that he doesn’t agree with him on all issues, but noted that he does “on most things, on the big things.”
“I love what he’s doing. I love his bravery, which is just remarkable. The amount that man has suffered for what he thinks is true. The amount of money he has lost, the amount of friends he has lost– he has been ostracized in a way that most people can’t even because he tipped off a drug company, really? And he’s persevered and I really admire him.”
The former Fox News host also shared that he hopes that both RFK and Trump win their respective primaries, adding that he hopes their "message will be heard."
It’s clear that Tucker is quite fond of RFK and it’s good to see. The relationship between Carlson and Kennedy is one that politics could use a lot more of, people on different sides of the aisle can look for the points they agree on and see the positive in each other.
The mainstream media and established politicians will do all in their power to ensure the sides stay divided because it prevents anything from actually being accomplished but RFK and Carlson show that those roadblocks can be overcome by a simple empathetic understanding of one another. This is why people like RFK and Carlson.
