'A Fair Shot Against A Witch Hunt': Florida CFO Calls For A Public Legal Defense Fund For Trump

On Monday, Florida's Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis took to social media to share the idea of potentially using public funds from Florida taxpayers to assist leading Republican presidential candidate and 45th President Donald Trump in his legal defense against the various criminal indictments and civil cases brought against him by left-wing prosecutors across the country.

"Why not provide public funding for a Presidential nominee (who's a Floridian) when DOJ is after them? Are we really going to deny one of our own a fair shot against a witch hunt?" Patronis asked on X/Twitter. "We didn't start this, Biden and liberal prosecutors did. They're ones trying to deny a fair election."

According to Newsmax, an advisor for Patronis clarified that the legal defense fund would be for any presidential candidate from the state of Florida; thus, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) would also be able to draw from the fund.

"Even DeSantis has said the federal government may come for him next," the advisor said.

Trump is currently facing four criminal indictments in Manhattan, Washington, D.C., Fulton County, Georgia, and Florida, as well as civil lawsuits in New York and various attempts by Democrats to remove him from the ballot in places like Colorado.

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, Trump is currently facing down New York Attorney General Letitia James (D-NY) in court after the Democrat brought a $250 million lawsuit against Trump for allegedly inflating his wealth for loan purposes.

Trump took the stand on Monday, and during his testimony, he denied any wrongdoing and reportedly went after the judge and Attorney General James for "trying to hurt" him, per The New York Post.

Those inside the courtroom also revealed the blatant bias of Judge Arthur Engoron, who, according to one account, was visibly disgusted with Trump on the stand.

"In all honesty, I've never witnessed a more biased judge in all of my court experiences," the court attendee wrote. "It's almost theatrical. How disgusted he is by Trump on that stand."

"But of course, there are no cameras here to capture it," the attendee explained. "Trump's Female attorney just urged the prosecutors to 'ask better questions.' She argues that his answers are indeed 'relevant.'"

"Judge just yelled at the court," the insider explains about Engoron. "If anyone is losing their temper in this courtroom, it's him."

As Trump continues to face down legal battle after legal battle, his bills will certainly stack up as Democrats utilize lawfare to drain his coffers. Given this, Patronis' idea to establish a fund for the leading GOP candidate could prove to be an essential step in Trump's fight in the courts.
