A Majority of Americans Have Had Enough - No More U.S. Tax Dollars To Ukraine

A new poll has found that 55 percent of the American people across party lines have found something that they can agree upon. A majority of the nation has had enough and said the U.S. Congress should not authorize additional funding to support the war in Ukraine.

According to the CNN/SSRS poll cited by The Daily Wire, 45 percent of the American people in bipartisan terms said that the Biden administration should continue its ongoing funding of Ukraine's war efforts against Russia, while 51 percent believe that the United States has already done enough and conversely, 48 percent say we should do more.

To say this is a massive collapse in public support is an understatement given that in February 2022, 62 percent of Americans polled said Congress should do more.

Where the surprising bipartisanship fails is when we come to the funding question itself. More or less, the issue is a partisan one with more Democrats supporting the ongoing funding of the war than Republicans by far. In contrast, the majority of Democrats hold the opposite view, with 62 percent supporting additional funding and asserting that the US should do more.

Republicans overwhelmingly argue against authorizing new funding (71 percent) and contend that the U.S. has already done enough to aid Ukraine (59 percent). 

However, fascinatingly nearly 80 percent of respondents overall have expressed concerns that the war will continue without a resolution indefinitely — including 82 percent of Democrats, 75 percent of independents, and 73 percent of Republicans.

According to The Daily Wire, the divide becomes even more pronounced regarding how the U.S. should assist Ukraine. 

"A significant partisan divide is observed when it comes to providing weapons to Ukraine, with 61% of Democrats in favor, compared to 39% of independents and only 30% of Republicans. As for deploying US military forces to participate in combat operations, less than 20% of individuals from all parties endorse the idea (19% Democrats, 18% independents, and 16% Republicans)."

Most alarming for the proponents of American involvement in the Russo-Ukrainian War must be the polling response with a broad 80 percent rejection of any combat deployment of US military forces to Ukraine against Russia. Among those polled, 19 percent of Democrats, 18 percent of independents, and 16 percent of Republicans support the concept.

The poll also reveals that 53 percent of Americans across party lines disapprove of how President Joe Biden is handling the situation in Ukraine, 56 percent disapprove of his handling of U.S. relations with Russia, and 57 percent disapprove of his handling of relations with China.

In spite of it all, the American people are still largely concerned about the war in Ukraine in general and specifically that it will: 

1. "Lead to Russian attacks elsewhere" 64 percent
2. "Lead to a broader war in Europe" 59 percent
3. "Threaten U.S. National Security" 56 percent
