WATCH: After Encouraging Christians To Vote For Him, Harris Campaign Claims Trump Will 'End Democracy' If Elected

During a Friday rally in West Palm Beach, Florida, President Donald Trump asked his Christian supporters to get out and vote for him one last time this November for his third and last presidential run. Trump's comments, however, meant something far different to the Harris campaign which, after incendiary rhetoric led to Trump's attempted assassination earlier this month, asserted that the Republican nominee wanted to "end democracy."

"Again, Christians, get out and vote! Just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, it will be fixed, it will be fine. You won't have to vote anymore," Trump said when discussing securing elections and switching to one-day voting and paper ballots. "You've got to get out and vote. In four years, you won't have to vote again. We'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote." If elected in November, Trump would be bound by the 22nd Amendment to step down at the end of his second term, meaning the upcoming election is the last time Republicans can vote for the 45th president.

In response to Trump's comments, the Harris campaign attempted to claim that "democracy is under assault" because of Trump's insistence that his supporters cast their ballots for him in November. "When Vice President Harris says this election is about freedom, she means it," the Harris For President campaign said in a statement. "Our democracy is under assault by criminal Donald Trump: After the last election Trump lost, he sent a mob to overturn the results."

"This campaign, he has promised violence if he loses, the end of our elections if he wins, and the termination of the Constitution to empower him to be a dictator to enact his dangerous Project 2025 agenda on America," the Harris campaign falsely claimed. "Donald Trump wants to take America backward, to a politics of hate, chaos, and fear - this November, America will unite around Vice President Kamala Harris to stop him."

Other Democrats also argued that Trump's comments were an indication that he would end voting if he were to win on November 5. "This year, democracy is on the ballot, and if we are to save it, we must vote against authoritarianism.," Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) wrote. "Here, Trump helpfully reminds us that the alternative is never having the chance to vote again."

In a statement to The Washington Post, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung explained that Trump "was talking about uniting this country and bringing prosperity to every American, as opposed to the divisive political environment that has sowed so much division and even resulted in an assassination attempt."
