A Biden Coup: Biden Admin Pushed To Oust Conservative Prime Minister After He Refused To Support Ukraine, Leaked Diplomatic Documents Show

New reporting has indicated that the U.S. State Department under President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken pressured the Pakistani government during a meeting on March 7th, 2022 to remove the elected Prime Minister Imran Khan from power. The outlet cited classified Pakistani documents obtained from a government leak.

According to The Intercept, the meeting that took place between the Biden Dept. of State and Pakistani Ambassador to the U.S. Asad Majeed Khan has been the focus of enormous controversy and major scrutiny over a period of 18 months while supporters of the deposed prime minister and opponents in both the civilian government and military vied for control.

The outlet reported that the document which was labeled "Secret" and sent via international cable from the ambassador to Pakistan revealed that the State Department promised "warmer relations if Khan was removed, and isolation if he was not."

In 2019 Khan made strides to rebuild U.S.-Pakistani relations with 45th President Donald J. Trump with Trump even offering to "mediate or arbitrate" the nation's dispute with India over the Kashmir region as reported by the BBC, an invitation India refused. Under Khan, Pakistan mediated peace talks between the Trump administration and the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said of the prime minister at the time, "In my opinion, he and his government represent the best opportunity in decades to have a beneficial strategic relationship the U.S.”

The message was sent about two weeks after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. While Russian forces crossed the border, Khan was en route to Moscow on a visit that seriously displeased the White House. On March 2nd, Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu was asked by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee about the neutral stances of India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan in the Russo-Ukrainian war. Lu, answering Sen. Chris Van Hollen, (D-MD) about Pakistan's abstention from a condemning vote against Russia at the U.N. said,

"Prime Minister Khan has recently visited Moscow, and so I think we are trying to figure out how to engage specifically with the Prime Minister following that decision.”

On March 6th, one day before the meeting, Khan addressed European calls for Pakistan to rally with them against Russia at a rally. He asked, "Are we your slaves?”

“What do you think of us? That we are your slaves and that we will do whatever you ask of us?” he continued. “We are friends of Russia, and we are also friends of the United States. We are friends of China and Europe. We are not part of any alliance.”

According to the leaked document, Lu was extremely blunt about the Biden administration's displeasure with Khan's stand. The Intercept reported Lu quixotically complaining of Pakistan's "aggressively neutral position."

In context, he reportedly said, "People here and in Europe are quite concerned about why Pakistan is taking such an aggressively neutral position (on Ukraine), if such a position is even possible. It does not seem such a neutral stand to us.”

He added that he was in discussions with the U.S. National Security Council and added "It seems quite clear that this is the prime minister’s policy.”

He then boldly brought up the prospect of a no-confidence vote for Khan. “I think if the no-confidence vote against the Prime Minister succeeds, all will be forgiven in Washington because the Russia visit is being looked at as a decision by the Prime Minister.” He added an implied threat: "Otherwise, I think it will be tough going ahead.” Lu added that “I cannot tell how this will be seen by Europe but I suspect their reaction will be similar," adding that Pakistan under Khan could suffer "isolation" by both the EU and the US.

The Pakistani ambassador reportedly told Lu he hoped the Russo-Ukrainian war wouldn't "impact our bilateral ties."

Lu replied,

“I would argue that it has already created a dent in the relationship from our perspective. Let us wait for a few days to see whether the political situation changes, which would mean that we would not have a big disagreement about this issue and the dent would go away very quickly. Otherwise, we will have to confront this issue head on and decide how to manage it.”

A day later, the process of removing Khan from office began.

Arif Rafiq, a non-resident scholar at the Middle East Institute and specialist on Pakistan, told The Intercept, “Khan’s fate wasn’t sealed at the time that this meeting took place, but it was tenuous, What you have here is the Biden administration sending a message to the people that they saw as Pakistan’s real rulers, signaling to them that things will better if he is removed from power.”

Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan clearly felt the same as he noted in his assessment that "Don could not have conveyed such a strong demarche (a political step or initiative) without the express approval of the White House, to which he referred repeatedly. Clearly, Don spoke out of turn on Pakistan’s internal political process. We need to seriously reflect on this and consider making an appropriate demarche to the U.S. (Chargé d'affaires) in Islamabad."

The State Department under Biden has repeatedly and vocally denied this exchange took place, however, the existence of the diplomatic document obtained by The Intercept was confirmed by the new prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif. Former Prime Minister Khan has been targeted with several legal challenges, now including potential charges related to discussing the message openly. After being removed from office he was convicted of unlawfully selling state gifts sentenced to three years imprisonment and barred from office for five years.
