Biden DHS Releases Terrorist On Watch List Into The Country - 'The Safety Of ALL Americans Is At Risk'

A troubling report from the Department of Homeland Security Office of the Inspector General has revealed that due to "ineffective practices" and "multiple mistakes", an illegal immigrant on the Terrorist Watchlist was inadvertently released into the general public by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Agents.

The heavily redacted report from the IG Office, released in June, indicates that the CBP permitted the illegal immigrant to enter the U.S., although they did not provide the required background information to the FBI Terrorist Screening Center thus preventing the listed individual from being detected.

According to The Blaze, Border Patrol agents arrested the illegal immigrant with others identified as their family on April 17, 2022, in Yuma, Arizona. When they ran the illegal immigrant's incomplete data through the Terrorist Watchlist they received an inconclusive match back from the database and were informed they should gather additional information from the subject. However, a follow-up interview never took place because agents sent the request to an invalid email address. The illegal immigrant was never interviewed.

Two days later, the suspect was released into the general population.

DHS OIG’s report stated,

"This occurred because CBP’s ineffective practices and processes for resolving inconclusive matches with the Terrorist Watchlist led to multiple mistakes. For example, CBP sent a request to interview the migrant to the wrong email address, obtained information requested by the TSC but never shared it, and released the migrant before fully coordinating with the TSC"

When CBS News reached out to DHS for comment, the agency criticized the report saying that it "sensationalizes and mischaracterizes a complex case." The department assured reporters that Border Patrol and Customs agents have already taken "appropriate steps to ensure there was no threat to the public."

The outlet reported that Border Patrol agents in Yuma revealed a troubling detail: they told investigators that they had released the illegal immigrant because they had insufficient procedures for handling cases with inconclusive watchlist results and they were under "pressure" to release detainees quickly due to facility overcrowding.

The illegal immigrant would only be discovered after they boarded a flight from Palm Springs, CA to Tampa, FL. TSA Agents shared the additional information that the FBI needed which allowed the screeners to determine he was a positive match for the terrorism watchlist, investigators said per CBS.

The individual was eventually arrested after Immigration and Customs Enforcement were informed of the match and his arrest was "prioritized." The report revealed that ICE initially had trouble obtaining information necessary for the arrest such as immigration records. He was finally arrested on May 6th, after being permitted to move alarmingly freely in the U.S. for sixteen days, more than sufficient time for someone intent on carrying out an attack against our nation to stage one and carry it out.

Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) responded to the report via Twitter with outrage, "Biden’s reckless open border policies led to the release of a TERRORIST on the watch list. Outrageous. Border Patrol agents are overwhelmed and stuck pushing paper because Biden opened the floodgates. Biden is putting U.S. national security at risk."

The House Republican caucus similarly condemned the Biden administration writing, "The Biden Administration’s open border policies have turned every community into a border community and every state into a border state."

Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (R-AZ), whose district covers Yuma, posted Friday, "The crisis at our southern border is and has been one of our greatest threats to national security. It’s time for the Biden Administration to begin taking this crisis seriously and SECURE OUR BORDER. The safety of ALL Americans is at risk."
