Biden Launches Major Crackdown On Power Plants To Push Radical Climate Agenda

President Biden’s administration has repeatedly pushed its green agenda on the American people over the past two years leading to inflated energy prices motivated by unrealistic goals to meet lofty priorities advocated for by climate extremists.

The latest policy push for this agenda is an upcoming rule from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that would require power plants to either substantially cut their greenhouse gas emissions or be forced to use expensive carbon capture technology, as reported by The New York Times.

The regulation would force coal and natural gas power plants to either cut nearly all of their emissions with carbon capture technology by 2040.

Democrats and their bureaucratic allies have often sought to go after America’s energy industry. Given that power plants account for 25 percent of greenhouse gas emissions, they have been a target for climate extremists to regulate.

“[W]e have been clear from the start that we will use all of our legally-upheld tools, grounded in decades-old bipartisan laws, to address dangerous air pollution and protect the air our children breathe today and for generations to come,” EPA spokesperson Maria Michalos told Fox News Digital.

The large majority of America’s energy, approximately 60 percent, comes from natural gas and coal power plants meaning that the bureaucratic rule will lead to costlier energy prices for Americans to fuel their homes as the power plant operators put the cost onto the consumer.

Biden has repeatedly pursued policies that will increase prices for consumers in order to push his climate agenda onto the American people.

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, the EPA recently issued a rule that sets new emissions standards for gas-powered cars in order to force Americans to adopt electric vehicles.

The rule pushes Americans to adopt electric vehicles by boosting EV sales with the goal of 67 percent of vehicle sales being all-electric by 2032. This rule change, however, has come with pushback even from some of Biden’s own party.

“The EPA is lying to Americans with false claims about how their manipulation of the market to boost EVs will help American energy security,” Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) said in a statement. “In reality, this is a Trojan horse.”

“To meet these timelines will mean strengthening our reliance on minerals and technologies controlled by the Chinese,” he continued. “Taken in concert with the clear violation of the IRA to undermine provisions that would actually secure these supply chains, this Administration is taking steps that will only result in a more energy secure and powerful China.”

“I don’t believe that making progress on climate change should come at the expense of our national and energy security,” Manchin concluded, adding, “I fully support Congress overturning these dangerous EPA regulations.”

As Biden continues to push unrealistic regulations on the American people via the bureaucracy, Americans will suffer rising costs.
