A report from local news station KELO last week confirmed it. Yet again, the National Parks Service under President Joe Biden has denied the request from Governor Kristi Noem (R-SD) to hold an Independence Day fireworks display at Mount Rushmore. This year's excuse holds true to last year's. An NPS spokesman, answering a request from KELO reporters, said that the agency, upon careful consideration of Noem's request, (which she submitted LAST YEAR) explained that the parks service was unable to grant her request.
The decision was allegedly made in January.
In a response letter obtained by KELO, the NPS continued to claim for the third consecutive year that the primary motivation is a concern for the views of the "multiple tribes" that fireworks represent "an adverse affect on the traditional cultural landscape."
The agency wrote,"This view was expressed by consulting Tribes in 2020 and has been reaffirmed by Tribal government representatives in subsequent meetings and letters. The Memorial is committed to furthering its ‘Nation-to-Nation relationships with Tribal governments, and we are directed to work ‘cooperatively with Tribes in stewarding the landunderSecretary's Order 3403, ensuring that the: NPS's decisions relating to Federal stewardship of Federal lands, waters, and wildlife under its jurisdiction include consideration of how to safeguard the interests of any Indian Tribes such decisions may affect.” In May 2021 a Traditional Cultural Survey was conducted in the Memorial by representatives from traditionally associated Tribes."
In short: the government under President Joe Biden will not hold the celebration because it might offend the nearby Native American tribes. Never mind that the National Park doesn't rest on reservation land and is the property of the people of the United States.
Responding on Twitter in January, Noem wrote, "The best way to celebrate America’s Birthday is with fireworks at Mount Rushmore. Today, the Biden Administration rejected them. Again."

Once again, Gov. Noem's efforts have been for naught, and no fireworks will adorn the memorial to some of America's greatest presidents on the fourth of July.
While as Peter Partoli, writing for The Western Journal and the Sacramento Bee pointed out, it's perfectly fine to foist a massive "Pride" event upon the ecologically sensitive and tribally relevant Yosemite National Park, despite the outright debauchery events of this type espouse, and divide the nation politically and philosophically, but an event that should unite us all in brotherhood as Americans? It seems the Biden administration just can't have that.
Former Governor Mike Huckabee (R-AR) commented via Twitter in disgust, "Life in Biden’s America: Want to stage a Gay Pride celebration in a national park? Go right ahead! Want to have a Fourth of July fireworks show at Mount Rushmore? DENIED! For the third year in a row!"
