Biden’s State Of The Union Dissolves As Inflation Numbers Highlight His Lies

The State of the Union message of President Joe Biden that boasted “inflation is coming down,” was severely undermined Tuesday when the US Department of Labor reported that inflation has spiked since the beginning of 2023 with increasing home, gas and energy costs hitting consumers hard.

The results from the Labor Department fly directly in the face of Biden’s braggadocious SOTU statements claiming that “gas prices are down $1.50 a gallon since their peak. Food inflation is coming down. Inflation has fallen every month for the last six months.”

As CNBC reported,

“The consumer price index, which measures a broad basket of common goods and services, rose 0.5 percent for the month, which translated to an annual gain of 6.4 percent. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for respective increases of 0.4 percent and 6.2 percent.”

“Excluding volatile food and energy, core CPI increased 0.4 percent monthly and 5.6 percent from a year ago, against respective estimates of 0.3 percent and 5.5 percent,” the report continued. “Energy also was a significant contributor, up 2 percent and 8.7 percent respectively, while food costs rose 0.5 percent and 10.1 percent respectively.”

The increase in consumer prices created a significant loss in realized pay for American families with average hourly earnings dropping by 0.2 percent for January, a 1.8 percent decrease year-over-year according to another Bureau of Labor Statistics report cited by CNBC.

BIDEN HAS MADE AMERICANS POORER WITH LEFTIST POLICIES, NEW REPORT SHOWS JUST HOW MUCH

Though some prices have decreased incrementally in the closing months of 2022, new data from January indicates that inflation is still exerting serious pressure on the economy and there is a significant risk of slipping further into recession.

Merely a week after Biden filled the pomp and grandeur of the State of the Union with grandiose promises of a revived economy the walls have come crashing in metaphorically with food and energy costs spiking again and effective take-home pay taking yet another hit that American families can’t sustain.

As National Review noted, “while gas prices are indeed considerably lower than last June, they’re high by historical standards for the month of January, according to Energy Information Administration records.”

In short, for an incumbent President and a party on the back foot from taking shellacking in dozens of congressional seats, state legislatures, and governor’s offices, this is a political disaster in the making. But the real catastrophe is happening around kitchen tables across the country, as working families struggle daily just to keep what they have.
