BREAKING: The Amber Heard-Johnny Depp Decision Is In

The verdict of the Johnny Depp defamation trial is in. After a long deliberation process and a pump-fake decision (the jurors did not fill out the damages), we finally got the results. What are the results of this unprecedented trial? A Depp victory on all counts.

The jury awarded Depp 10 million dollars in compensatory damages and 5 million in punitive damages. Heard’s counter-lawsuit was partly successful. She was awarded 2 million in compensatory damages and zero in punitive damages.

For background, Johnny Depp sued his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, for fifty million dollars on the charges of defamation. He did this because of a Washington Post op-ed, an op-ed which he alleged labeled him as an abuser. This effectively derailed his career — losing him his renowned role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean Franchise. She counter sued him for 100 million dollars, alleging his attorney conspired to “destroy and defame” her.

The trial took place over the course of six weeks. It was a long and drawn-out trial, but we are happy to finally see the results.

Watch the verdict be announced:
