BREAKING: Another House Democrat Demands Biden 'Get Out' Of The Presidential Race

On Wednesday, Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) became the second Democrat representative to demand President Biden withdraw from the presidential race following his disastrous debate performance last week and his continued decline in the polls. Rep. Grijalva, the ranking member of the Natural Resources Committee, joins Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) in calling on Biden to leave the race.

"If he's the candidate, I'm going to support him, but I think that this is an opportunity to look elsewhere," Grijalva told The New York Times' Tim Balk. "What he needs to do is shoulder the responsibility for keeping that seat - and part of that responsibility is to get out of this race."

Grijalva's statement comes after some House Democrats, mainly those in swing-district seats and progressives, are reportedly circulating a letter to other members of the caucus calling upon President Biden to withdraw from the race. "Everyone is guarded now," one senior House Democratic member explained to Fox News. "People may be just doing what they believe is best for them." According to Reuters, at least 25 House Democrats are preparing to call upon the president to drop out after Democrats in competitive seats have been hammered with questions from constituents about Biden's age and their stance on supporting the presumptive Democrat nominee.

An increasing number of elected Democrats could publicly express their opposition to Biden's re-election campaign after Rep. Doggett became the first congressional Democrat to voice his concern on Tuesday.

"[F]or more than a year, many Americans have indicated dissatisfaction with their choices in this election. President Biden has continued to run substantially behind Democratic senators in key states and in most polls has trailed Donald Trump," the nearly three-decade congressional veteran wrote. "I had hoped that the debate would provide some momentum to change that. It did not. Instead of reassuring voters, the President failed to effectively defend his many accomplishments and expose Trump's many lies."

"Our overriding consideration must be who has the best hope of saving our democracy from an authoritarian takeover by a criminal and his gang," the Democrat representative stated. "President Biden saved our democracy by delivering us from Trump in 2020. He must not deliver us to Trump in 2024...I represent the heart of a congressional district once represented by Lyndon Johnson. Under very different circumstances, he made the painful decision to withdraw. President Biden should do the same."

This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.
