On Thursday morning, SpaceX, the company founded and led by billionaire Elon Musk, launched the largest rocket every built. The rocket, however, was detonated approximately four minutes after takeoff.
Musk seemed pleased with the results of the test launch, however, writing, “Congrats @SpaceX team on an exciting test launch of Starship! Learned a lot for next test launch in a few months.”

The test was initially scheduled on Monday, however, it was postponed due to a faulty valve with Musk writing, “A pressurant valve appears to be frozen, so unless it starts operating soon, no launch today. Learned a lot today, now offloading propellant, retrying in a few days…”

NASA has previously unveiled its own rocket but Musk’s Starship promises to be twice as powerful, however, Musk said in a Twitter Spaces on Sunday that expectations should be low, as reported by CNN.
This rocket is the world’s tallest and most powerful rocket and is reusable as well, according to Space.com.
“If we get far enough away from the launch pad before something goes wrong, then I think I would consider that to be a success,” he said. “Just don’t blow up the pad.’

The construction of the starship has been going on for years and it has been repeatedly tested with “hop tests” that lift the starship a few feet off the ground. There was also a suborbital flight test in May 2021 that was successful.
“As we venture into new territory, we continue to appreciate all of the support and encouragement we have received from those who share our vision of a future where humanity is out exploring among the stars!” SpaceX wrote on Twitter in anticipation of the launch on Monday.
“All systems currently green for launch,” Musk wrote on Wednesday evening.
The rocket test seemed to exceed Musk’s expectations after nearly four minutes of flight time. It will hopefully be one step in the journey to other planets.
