On Monday, Fox News announced that host Jesse Watters will officially be taking over the 8 p.m. time slot previously filled by Tucker Carlson.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Laura Ingraham will be taking over Watters' previous 7 p.m. slot while Greg Gutfeld will be taking an earlier time slot as well at 10 p.m.
"Fox News Channel has been America’s destination for news and analysis for more than 21 years and we are thrilled to debut a new lineup," Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott said about the decision, per NBC News. "The unique perspectives of Laura Ingraham, Jesse Watters, Sean Hannity, and Greg Gutfeld will ensure our viewers have access to unrivaled coverage from our best-in-class team for years to come."
Watters joined Fox News back in 2002 as a production assistant and gradually climbed the rungs of the network's ladder by doing combative man-on-the-street videos. Watters joined 'The Five' in 2017 and was given his own show, 'Watters' World', that same year.
The move to put Watters in the slot comes after multiple hosts have rotated in the prime time slot in recent weeks following Tucker Carlson's ouster from the network in April.
In the following weeks, the network has seen devastating rating drops as the audience left the network along with the beloved host. Tucker's former slot, which would normally garner over three million viewers a night during Carlson's reign, was only able to bring in a little over a million a night following his departure.
As Fox has continued to suffer from the lack of viewership, the network is also pursuing legal action against Carlson after the former host allegedly breached his contract with the publication of his new hit show titled 'Tucker on Twitter.'
The veteran journalist's new enterprise has led to millions of people viewing the content that is now published every Tuesday and Thursday evening.
The 53-year-old's most recent episode focused on Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has, as of this report, over 28 million views. Other recent episodes have reached over 100 million people with his third episode, titled 'America's principles are at stake', bringing in a staggering 102.8 million tweet impressions.
While Fox continues to struggle to regain the audience that it lost following Carlsson's departure, it is clear that the man himself is having no problem getting the attention he deserves.
