BREAKING: Gavin Newsom Proposes Constitutional Amendment To Strip Americans Of Their Guns

On Thursday, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) proposed a Constitutional amendment in order to strip American citizens of their firearms.

"I’m proposing the 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution to help end our nation’s gun violence crisis," Newsom wrote in a tweet. "The American people are sick of Congress’ inaction."

"The 28th will enshrine 4 widely supported gun safety freedoms -- while leaving the 2nd Amendment intact," the governor claimed, adding the various regulations that would be put in place for gun owners.

He outlined that under the amendment, the minimum age to purchase a firearm would be 21-years-old. The amendment would also institute universal background checks, a "reasonable waiting period for gun purchases," and it would ban civilian purchases of so-called "assault weapons."

California has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation. Despite this, Gov. Newsom, who seems to be increasing his national profile for a possible presidential run, is not satisfied with just stripping Californians of their Second Amendment rights. He, like nearly all Democrats, will go after any American who wishes to own a firearm.
