BREAKING: GOP Candidate Pledges to Pardon Trump if Elected, Calls Others to Do the Same

Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur-turned-candidate for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024, made a move Monday that hits far above the proverbial weight class of someone polling in single digits. Ramaswamy has pledged to pardon the 45th President Donald Trump if elected and challenged all his opponents to do likewise.

According to Fox News, Ramaswamy, who holds a law doctorate from Yale, pledged the pardon during a press conference at the Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. U.S. Courthouse in Miami, where the arraignment is set to occur Tuesday.

In a press release cited by Fox, he said, "The use of police force by a sitting U.S. President against his chief political rival in the midst of a presidential election sets a dangerous precedent in our country."

He continued calling out Democrat Incumbent President Joe Biden,

"The use of police force by a sitting U.S. President against his chief political rival in the midst of a presidential election sets a dangerous precedent in our country."

"No one should be below the law either, yet there are now two standards of justice depending on your political viewpoints," the candidate added. "That’s the single greatest threat to our constitutional republic today."

In Ramaswamy's letter as reported by The Washington Times,  he addressed his opponents, saying, â€œWhoever among us is elected, our job of reuniting the nation will become daunting — if not impossible,” he added. “I condemn these charges by the U.S. Department of Justice.”

He then called upon them specifically to join him, "Below, I have signed a commitment to pardon President Trump promptly on January 20, 2025, for the federal charges in United States of America v. Donald J. Trump and [former valet] Waltine Nauta. … I respectfully request that you join me in this commitment or else publicly explain why you will not."

Via Twitter, he was even more direct, "I challenge every US Presidential candidate to join me in standing for TRUTH. Commit to pardon Donald Trump for these federal charges on Day 1, or explain why you won’t. No one should hide. Not Biden. Not DeSantis. Not Haley. Not Pence. Not RFK. Not Scott. Not anyone."
