BREAKING: Jim Jordan Fails To Win Speakership In Second Vote, Here's The Republicans Who Voted Against Him

On Wednesday, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) once again failed to win the speakership after a second round of voting saw him lose by over 20 votes thanks to a number of Republican moderates who refused to back him.

As of this report, GOP holdouts voted for a number of alternative candidates including former Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY), Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and even former speaker of the House John Boehner which received both applause and laughter.

Jordan was able to flip two members, Rep. Doug Lamoulfa (R-CA) and Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN), in his favor from those who voted against him on Tuesday. Rep. Vern Buchanan changed his vote from Jordan the day prior to Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL). Rep. Drew Ferguson (R-GA) also flipped his vote from Jordan to Scalise. Rep. Mariannette Miller Meeks (R-IA) and Rep. Pete Stauber (R-MN) also changed their vote against Jordan.

Those who voted against Jim Jordan include:

  • Don Bacon (NE) voted for Kevin McCarthy
  • Vern Buchanan (FL) voted for Byron Donalds
  • Ken Buck (CO) voted for Tom Emmer
  • Lori Chavez-Deremer (OR) voted for Kevin McCarthy
  • Anthony D'Esposito (NY) voted for Lee Zeldin
  • Mario Diaz-Balart (FL) voted for Steve Scalise
  • Jake Ellzey (TX) voted for Mike Garcia
  • Drew Ferguson (GA) voted for Steve Scalise
  • Andrew Garbarino (NY) voted for Lee Zeldin
  • Carlos Gimenez (FL) voted for Kevin McCarthy
  • Tony Gonzales (TX) voted for Kevin McCarthy
  • Kay Granger (TX) voted for Steve Scalise
  • John James (MI) voted for Candace Miller
  • Mike Kelly (PA) voted for John Boehner
  • Jen Kiggans (VA) voted for Kevin McCarthy
  • Nick LaLota (NY) voted for Kevin McCarthy
  • Mike Lawler (NY) voted for Kevin McCarthy
  • Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA) for Kay Granger
  • John Rutherford (FL) voted for Steve Scalise
  • Mike Simpson (ID) voted for Steve Scalise
  • Pete Stauber (MN) voted for Bruce Westerman
  • Steve Womack (AR) voted for Steve Scalise
A number of House Republicans decided to back Jordan over the weekend thanks to Americans voicing their support for Jordan via phone calls to their members' congressional offices. If enough conservative Americans demand their lawmakers vote in favor of McCarthy, perhaps Jordan can win the nomination in subsequent votes.
