BREAKING: Jim Jordan Opens Major Investigation Into DA Fani Willis Ahead Of Trump Arrest

On Thursday, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) launched an official probe into Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis after she indicted leading 2024 Republican candidate and 45th President Donald Trump alongside 18 others for their actions following the 2020 election.

The move comes after Willis officially indicted President Trump and 18 other allies earlier this week for their actions following the 2020 presidential election. Trump specifically was hit with 13 charges including "Violation Of The Georgia Rico (Racketeer Influenced And Corrupt Organizations) Act," "Solicitation Of Violation Of Oath By Public Officer," "Conspiracy To Commit False Statements and Writings" and "Conspiracy To Commit Forgery in the First Degree," as well as several other charges.

"Your indictment and prosecution implicate substantial federal interests, and the circumstances surrounding your actions raise serious concerns about whether they are politically motivated," the letter reads.

The letter questioned Willis' motivation for launching the indictment with them citing a fundraising website that was created for her campaign just four days before the indictment was announced, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer. In addition, the Republicans cite the actions of the grand jury forewoman earlier this year when she did a media tour bragging about subpoenaing President Trump. The House Judiciary also cites the fact that a document with the charges leaked prior to the grand jury voting.

Jim Jordan also took aim at the fact that Willis waited to bring charges against Trump despite beginning the probe in February 2021.

"Yet, you did not bring charges until two-and-a-half years later, at a time when the campaign for the Republican presidential nomination is in full swing. Moreover, you have requested that the trial in this matter begin on March 4, 2024, the day before Super Tuesday and eight days before the Georgia presidential primary," the Ohio Republican wrote. "It is therefore unsurprising many have speculated that this indictment and prosecution are designed to interfere with the 2024 presidential election."

Jordan goes on to outline how the indictment focuses on multiple federal interests including the welfare of former presidents, the criminalization of internal DOJ conversations, the criminalization of speech by federal officials, and the threatening of federal operations by a state official.

The House Republican also questioned the extent to which Willis' office coordinated with DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith who has also brought two indictments against President Trump.

"News outlets have reported that your office and Mr. Smith 'interviewed many of the same witnesses and reviewed much of the same evidence' in reaching your decision to indict President Trump," Rep. Jordan explained, adding that therefore they have an interest in investigating such behavior.

In order to facilitate this investigation, Jordan demands that Willis' office hand over all documents related to the “receipt and use of federal funds," communications between her office and Special Counsel Jack Smith, and communications between her office and other federal agencies related to the Trump investigation.
