On Tuesday morning, President Joe Biden announced his reelection for President of the United States. In response, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Biden’s main primary opponent, called upon the president to debate him and have an actual primary to decide the Democrat nominee.
“I have known and liked Joe Biden for many years, but we differ profoundly on fundamental issues such as corporate influence in government, censorship, civil liberties, poverty, corruption, and war policy, among others,” Kennedy wrote. “I look forward to engaging him in debates and town hall meetings, in a primary election that is honest, civil, and transparent.”
“I invite him into a new era of respectful dialog in these times of division. #Kennedy24,” the son of the late RFK added.

Kennedy Jr. has been polling somewhat well against Biden, pulling 14 percent of Democrats in a recent poll, as reported by The Hill.
The Democrat National Committee said that they would not be hosting debates for 2024, clearly in an effort to shield Biden from a successful primary challenge. This, however, has caused some Democrats to call out the DNC for their undemocratic action.
BREAKING: REPUBLICANS, MCCARTHY, GREENE, DONALDS, RESPOND TO JOE BIDEN’S REELECTION ANNOUNCEMENT
“DNC has already announced that it will not allow any debates in the 2024 primary,” wrote The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur. “Biden is not to be challenged. Everyone on the Democratic side must shut up and fall in line. Not having debates is undemocratic and ridiculous. No progressive should agree to this kind of power grab.”

“The DNC ‘plans no primary debates,'” wrote Democrat challenger Marianne Williamson. “As though there simply ARE no other candidates … no other ideas we should discuss about ways to win in 2024, or other ideas we should discuss about ways to repair the country. Too many people are too smart to accept this.”

“The DNC refusing to hold a single primary debate is undemocratic and robs the voters of choice,” Nina Turner said in response to the DNC’s decision. “No one who feels confident in their record and/or ideas would hesitate to stand on them. The DNC should hold debates. This is supposed to be a democratic process.”

It is clear that the American people, and even prominent Democrats, want to see Biden challenged for the nomination and potentially replaced as the party’s nominee. Biden has an abysmal record and low approval ratings. His chances of winning a second term against a strong Republican candidate like Donald Trump are low and Democrats realize that fact.
