On Monday morning, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) made a major announcement that would hold the Biden administration accountable for interfering with the IRS investigation into Hunter Biden after such interference was recently exposed by a whistleblower.
On 'Fox and Friends' on Monday morning, McCarthy explained that if the accusations made by the whistleblower were true, then he would pursue impeachment proceedings against Attorney General Merrick Garland no later than July 6th.
"By July 6th, because of the allegations from the IRS, because of the whistleblowers, and the DOJ - Garland - what he is saying and what David Weiss are saying privately are two different things," McCarthy said. "If it comes true what the IRS whistleblower is saying, we are going to start impeachment inquiries into the attorney general."
It was recently revealed by whistleblower Gary Shapley that US Attorney David Weiss sought to bring charges against Hunter Biden, however, he was allegedly blocked from doing so by the Department of Justice.
Attorney General Merrick Garland, however, has denied this, saying on Friday, "As I said at the outset, Mr. Weiss, who was appointed by President Trump as the U.S. attorney in Delaware and assigned this matter during the previous administration, would be permitted to continue his investigation and to make a decision to prosecute any way in which he wanted to and in any district in which he wanted to. Mr. Weiss has since sent a letter to the House Judiciary Committee confirming that he had that authority."
"I don't know how it would be possible for anybody to block him from bringing a prosecution, given that he has this authority," Garland added, as reported by Fox News.
Despite Garland's denial, the whistleblower, who oversaw the IRS investigation into Hunter Biden, claims that the DOJ slow-walked the probe into the president's son and limited the investigator's efforts to question witnesses and search the Biden's Delaware residence.
"We need to get to the facts, and that includes reconciling these clear disparities. U.S. Attorney David Weiss must provide answers to the House Judiciary Committee," McCarthy wrote on Twitter on Sunday. "If the whistleblowers' allegations are true, this will be a significant part of a larger impeachment inquiry into Merrick Garland's weaponization of DOJ."
These revelations come just days after Hunter Biden reached a favorable plea deal agreement with DOJ officials for overstating his business deductions on his taxes and lying on a gun form. The Biden son will plead guilty to two misdemeanor counts of willful failure to pay federal income tax and will reach an agreement on the firearm charge.
House Republicans are once again proving that they are willing to take action in order to get the truth and hold the Biden family accountable. If it is true that the DOJ utilized its influence to hinder the investigation into Hunter Biden, then impeachment should be on the table.
