BREAKING: Laken Riley's Father Demands Gov. Brian Kemp Declare 'Invasion,' Deport Illegal Migrants - 'I Stand Before You, A Heartbroken Man'

On Thursday, the father of Laken Riley, the slain college student who was allegedly murdered by an illegal immigrant last month, traveled to the state senate in Atlanta, Georgia, to plead with Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) to declare a state of invasion to counteract the influx of illegal immigrants to the state. Riley blamed the death of his daughter on Athens-Clark County's pro-illegal migrant policy that was passed in 2019.

"My vision for every senator in this chamber is that you protect citizens from this illegal invasion. Please recognize over a million illegal aliens are in this state and making families nervous," Riley told the state senate. "Please recognize Athens-Clarke is a sanctuary city, and this policy and the lack of action led to the murder of my daughter." In 2019, the Athens city council passed a resolution that aimed to welcome "people from all lands and backgrounds and strives to foster a community where individuals and families of all statuses feel safe, are able to prosper, and can breathe free…that all people, including those without documentation, feel welcome and comfortable interacting with local law enforcement, their local government, and all services provided by such."

"I stand before you, a heartbroken man. Part of my purpose has been taken. God gave me a beautiful daughter to father, protect, provide for, and nurture. A man with an evil heart stole her life. He was in this country and this state illegally," Laken's father said. "Governor Kemp, please declare an invasion to detain and deport criminal illegals so we can prevent future families from those tragedies. Hundreds of women and children each month… are being smuggled, coerced, and trafficked in our state. They are victims, just like Laken. I thank you for honoring Laken in this way, and I humbly ask you to do more to protect us. She and my family mean the world to me."

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, Riley was found dead on the University of Georgia's campus in late February. One of the young woman's friends reported her missing after she did not come back from a jog near the school's intramural fields. Authorities eventually found Riley without a pulse. They attempted CPR but were unable to resuscitate her. The young nursing student had "visible injuries" that led to the authorities suspecting foul play and launching an investigation, eventually settling on 26-year-old Jose Antonio Ibarra as the main suspect. It was later revealed that Riley was beaten to death with an object that led to "seriously disfiguring her body … by disfiguring her skull." Following the beating, Ibarra then dragged her body to a secluded area.

During a press conference, UGA Police Chief Jeffrey L. Clark explained that Ibarra is not a citizen of the United States and that he potentially is from Venezuela. He has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call, and concealing the death of another, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer. Authorities in New York previously had custody of Ibarra for endangering a minor. Still, the NYPD released him onto the streets before Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) could issue a detainer.
