On Tuesday, Ohio voters took to the ballot box to decide the future of abortion in the state after Ohio Republicans failed to increase the threshold for a constitutional amendment to pass earlier this year. Ohio Republicans lost once again when voters decided to enshrine the right to an abortion in the Ohio state constitution.
"I've seen enough: in a victory for the pro-choice side, Ohio Issue 1, a measure to establish a right to an abortion in the state constitution, passes," Senior Editor of the Cook Political Report Dave Wasserman announced.
The defeat for the pro-life movement is one in a slew of losses in recent months after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in the summer of 2022.
As of this report, 49 percent of votes are in, with 56.3 percent voting for the constitutional right to abortion and 43.7 percent voting against it.
This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.
