BREAKING: Princess Of Wales Kate Middleton Announces Cancer Diagnosis, Undergoing Chemotherapy

After months of speculation, Kate Middleton, The Princess of Wales, announced that she has cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy after she underwent major abdominal surgery in January. Buckingham Palace did not disclose the type of cancer, but she did reveal that she began chemotherapy in February.

"This, of course, came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family," she said. "As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment."

The Princess of Wales explained that it has been a difficult couple of months for her family and that she requests privacy for both herself and her family during the difficult time. "Most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them and to reassure them that I'm going to be okay," she explained. "As I've said to them, I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body, and spirits."

The 42-year-old member of the royal family then explained that having Prince William by her side was a "great comfort" and that the support of millions of people worldwide had helped to keep her spirits up. She did, however, ask for privacy at this time. "My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy, and I look forward to being back when I'm able. But for now, I must focus on making a full recovery," she said, concluding that those who are facing cancer alongside her are "not alone."
