BREAKING: Republican Candidates Tackle Education, Chris Christie Asked About UFOs, And More At GOP Debates

On Wednesday evening, eight Republican presidential candidates took to the stage in Milwaukee for the first GOP presidential debate hosted by Fox News and the Republican National Committee.

The seventh round of questions at the GOP debates focused on education in America. Gov. DeSantis started the section with an emphasis on putting academic standards over indoctrination and that schools focus on "solid academics" rather than focusing on Critical Race Theory and gender ideology. He went on to say that under his administration he would put a focus on civic education.

Vivek Ramaswamy was then asked about his stances to eliminate federal bureacracies to which he explained that ever high school senior needs to pass the same civic test that migrants take to enter the country. He also said that parents need to play a role in educating their children and federal policies need to stop rewarding single mother households.

Gov. Doug Burgum explained that education needs to innovate and that he has real world experience in reforming the school system in North Dakota.

Haley then turned to focusing on getting parents more involved in education and putting in more practical classes in schools to ensure that students gain real world skills. Haley also took a stand against biological men in women's sports.

The debate then turned to a lightning round where the candidates were asked about whether candidates need to take a mental aptitude test. Pence stated that he does not believe a test needs to be established and that voters should decide.

Senator Scott was then asked about whether a president should be involved in reestablishing religion in America. Scott also took a shot at teacher unions and explained that they need to be deemphasized in education policy.

DeSantis was asked whether he supports mandatory military service to which he said he does not. He emphasized his military experience in Iraq after 9/11.

Chris Christie was then asked about UFOs, a question that he mocked. Christie said that the job of the president is to level with the American people, stand for truth, and be a role model for America's children. Christie then took time to explain how he went after the teachers unions during his governorship.

During the debate, leading 2024 Republican candidate and 45th President Donald Trump joined former Fox News host Tucker Carlson instead of joining the debate stage.
