BREAKING: Supreme Court Issues Decision On Steve Bannon's Bid To Remain Out Of Prison

On Friday, the Supreme Court denied a bid by former Trump advisor Steve Bannon to delay his prison sentence after he was ordered to report to prison following the failure of his appeal after he was convicted of defying a subpoena from the January 6 Select Committee.

The appeal, which was considered by the full court at Chief Justice Roberts' direction, rejected Bannon's request to delay his sentence, a four-month term which begins on July 1. The denial comes despite House Speaker Mike Johnson's (R-LA) best efforts to assist the former Trump aide by sending an amicus brief to the court.

Despite House leadership's best efforts, Bannon will join former Trump advisor Peter Navarro as one of two Trump aides who are now serving time behind bars for defying a January 6 Committee subpoena.

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, Bannon's legal team has repeatedly argued that executive privilege gave him the authority to not cooperate with congressional investigators; however, that argument didn't hold up with the judges in the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, who denied his appeal. 

Following the ruling earlier this month, Bannon said that the legal efforts against him are an effort to sabotage the America First movement. "All of this is about one thing—shutting down the MAGA movement, grassroots conservatives, and President Trump," Bannon said. "Not only are we winning, we are going to prevail. There's not a prison or jail built that can shut me up."

Presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump also slammed the "Biden Department of Injustice" for the weaponization of the law against Bannon. "It is a Total and Complete American Tragedy that the Crooked Joe Biden Department of Injustice is so desperate to jail Steve Bannon, and every other Republican, for that matter, for not SUBMITTING to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs, made up of all Democrats, and two CRAZED FORMER REPUBLICAN LUNATICS, Cryin' Adam Kinzinger, and Liz 'Out of Her Mind' Cheney," Trump wrote on Turth Social.

"It has been irrefutably proven that it was the Unselects who committed actual crimes when they deleted and destroyed all material evidence, in a pathetic attempt to protect Crazy Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats from the TRUTH — THAT I DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG," he continued. "The unAmerican Weaponization of our Law Enforcement has reached levels of Illegality never thought possible before. INDICT THE UNSELECT J6 COMMITTEE FOR ILLEGALLY DELETING AND DESTROYING ALL OF THEIR 'FINDINGS!' MAGA2024."
