BREAKING: Trump Lawyer Calls for Major Investigation into the ‘Prosecutorial Misconduct’ in District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s Office

On Friday, 45th President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to reveal a letter sent by Trump attorney Joseph Tacopina that called on the Commissioner of the New York City Department of Investigations to launch a probe into Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D).

The 12-page letter sent to Commissioner Jocelyn E. Strauber demands that an investigation be launched into the “unprecedented multi-year probe of President Trump” adding that it represented “prosecutorial misconduct” and a “blatant attempt to interfere with a Federal election.”

“Rather than let the American voters choose their next President, the [New York District Attorney’s Office (NYDA)] has decided that it knows better and has attempted to short-circuit the electoral process and take matters into its own hands,” Trump’s attorney wrote. “In short, over the past five years, the NYDA has targeted for criminal prosecution President Trump due to the prosecutors’ political animosity towards him.”

The letter, dated March 10th, called upon Commissioner Strauber to investigate former District Attorney Cyrus Vance, former NYDA General Counsel Carey Dunne, former Special Assistant District Attorney Mark Pomerantz, current District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and the NYDA in its totality.

One of the principal pieces of evidence used to justify the investigation by Tacopina is a book by former Assistant D.A. Mark Pomerantz titled People vs. Trump: An Insider’s Account. 

“There was never any doubt, and Prosecutor Pomerantz’s book makes this more apparent than ever, that the ongoing investigation by the NYDA of former President Trump represents corruption of our criminal justice system and a threat to our democracy,” Tacopina wrote.

He then went on to cite multiple examples in which the investigation, led by Democrat prosecutors, has become politicized and has resulted in a process in which the justice system is second to a personal vendetta.

“Prosecutor Pomerantz’s book makes abundantly clear that the NYDA has sought to prosecute President Trump purely for personal and political reasons,” the letter read, adding that prosecutors “weaponized their office by singling [Trump] out for targeted prosecution.”

Tacopina then turned his attention to the “novel” legal theories that have undergirded the investigations into the 2024 Republican presidential frontrunner.

“Prosecutor Pomerantz himself admitted that he attempted to dream up ‘novel’ legal theories to prosecute President Trump,” the Trump attorney explains. “Not only was Prosecutor Pomerantz’s view of the law a radical departure from accepted New York State law, the case which Pomerantz proposed bringing against President Trump relied on the testimony of Michael Cohen, a convicted fraudster and perjurer who has made a living, since being released from prison, by attacking President Trump in books, podcasts, and television appearances.”

Tacopina then explains that Pomerantz ignored senior prosecutors who said that his attempted prosecution of Trump was based on unfounded legal assumptions: “Prosecutor Pomerantz, therefore, attempted to construct a criminal charge by twisting the law.”

The lawyer then connects the former legal misjudgment of Pomerantz and the other prosecutors in the Manhattan office to those of Alvin Bragg who is attempting to revive the “zombie case” against Trump.

“Whether the current District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, ultimately succumbs to the political pressures that have been placed on him by the public and his former colleagues and bring formal charges against President Trump remains to be seen,” the Trump lawyer wrote. “But what cannot be disputed is that by proceeding down the same winding road in search of a crime for personal and political reasons, the NYDA is flagrantly abusing its sacred authority and dishonoring its mantra of ‘One Standard of Justice for All.'”

Tacopina then concluded his letter by calling upon the Department of Investigations to conduct an investigation into both former and current prosecutors in the D.A.’s office “to determine whether and to what extent they have improperly weaponized their office for political gain…in an effort to undermine a future Federal election and push their own personal, political agenda to the detriment of American citizens.”
