BREAKING: Trump Makes MAJOR Announcement Amid House Speakership Vote

On Tuesday, leading Republican presidential candidate and 45th President Donald Trump spoke to reporters outside of the New York City courtroom where he is defending himself against far-left Attorney General Letitia James' $250 million lawsuit against him. While speaking to reporters, Trump weighed in once again on the ongoing fight for the speaker's gavel in the House of Representatives.

Trump, who endorsed Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) for the speakership last week, explained that there have been a number of moderate Republicans who have switched their vote in favor of Jordan in the past day which has allowed for "unification" of the party behind a single candidate.

"He's a fantastic young man and he's pretty young still," Trump said of Jordan. "He's very strong and has very proper opinions about our country. He wants to see our country do well and I think he is going to be confirmed sometime soon."

"As you know many people have now supported him when 24 hours ago they were supporting somebody else," he explained, adding, "There seems to be great unification. I think Jim Jordan will be a great speaker."

Jordan has continued to attempt to lobby moderate Republicans for their votes ahead of the upcoming speakership vote on Tuesday and has been successful in convincing a number of members to vote in favor of him.

"[Jim Jordan] and I have had two cordial, thoughtful, and productive conversations over the past two days," wrote Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL) on Monday, a notable holdout to Jordan. "We agreed on the need for Congress to pass a strong NDAA, appropriations to fund our government's vital functions, and other important legislation like the Farm Bill."

"As a result, I have decided to support Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House on the floor," he explained. "Since I was first elected to the House, I have always been a team player and supported what the majority of the Republican Conference agrees to. Together, our Republican majority will be stronger to fight Joe Biden’s reckless agenda for America."

As the speakership vote looms in Washington, Trump's endorsement has likely swayed a number of Republicans to vote in favor of Jordan. If elected to the speakership, Jordan would be one of the most conservative members of Congress to hold the position in its history. Hopefully, Republicans will unify around Jordan and avoid the chaos seen in January.
