BREAKING: Trump Responds To Senate Border Bill That Allows '5,000 Illegal Migrants A Day'

On Monday, leading Republican presidential candidate and 45th President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to blast the Senate border legislation revealed to the rest of the upper chamber on Sunday evening. The bill, which was crafted by Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), Sen. Chirs Murphy (D-CT), and Sen. Kristen Sinema (I-AZ), would allow for 5,000 illegal migrants to cross the border daily and give work permits to asylum recipients.

"Only a fool, or a Radical Left Democrat, would vote for this horrendous Border Bill, which only gives Shutdown Authority after 5000 Encounters a day, when we already have the right to CLOSE THE BORDER NOW, which must be done," Trump wrote in response to the bill. "This Bill is a great gift to the Democrats, and a Death Wish for The Republican Party. It takes the HORRIBLE JOB the Democrats have done on Immigration and the Border, absolves them, and puts it all squarely on the shoulders of Republicans. Don't be STUPID!!! We need a separate Border and Immigration Bill. It should not be tied to foreign aid in any way, shape, or form! The Democrats broke Immigration and the Border. They should fix it. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!"

Trump wasn't the only Republican who stood against the legislation. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) said that it would be dead on arrival in the lower chamber. "I've seen enough. This bill is even worse than we expected, and won't come close to ending the border catastrophe the President has created. As the lead Democrat negotiator proclaimed: Under this legislation, 'the border never closes.' If this bill reaches the House, it will be dead on arrival."

"Let me be clear: The Senate Border Bill will NOT receive a vote in the House," House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) wrote. "Here’s what the people pushing this “deal” aren’t telling you: It accepts 5,000 illegal immigrants a day and gives automatic work permits to asylum recipients—a magnet for more illegal immigration."

The legislation, which requires at least 60 votes to be considered on the floor, has already garnered opposition from a plethora of conservative senators, including Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Steve Daines (R-MT), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Ron Johnson (R-WI), Mike Lee (R-UT), Rand Paul (R-KY), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Rick Scott (R-FL), Eric Schmitt (R-MO), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), and J.D. Vance (R-OH).

As Republicans consider whether or not they will support the legislation crafted behind closed doors, the American people are making it clear that the legislation allows for the crisis to be prolonged and legally justified. President Biden has the authority, without the need for additional legislation, to shut down the border and deter illegal immigration. President Trump delivered a secure southern border, which resulted in some of the lowest illegal immigration rates in recent history. If Biden refuses to act, Congress should not bail him out.
