California Pushes New Bill That Would Force Parents To 'Affirm' Their Child's Transgender Identity

The state of California continues to show just how far it is willing to go to appease the hyper-woke LGBTQ mob, with a new bill making its way through the legislature that would force judges to side with parents that “affirm” a child’s transgenderism. 

The bill, AB 957, has now passed through the State Assembly and is currently making its way to the state’s Senate. The bill will require family court judges to side with whichever parent is supportive of a child’s preferred identity, attempting to argue that not agreeing with a child's preferred gender is akin to abuse. 

A newly edited version that was released updates the bill's text that defines explicitly “the health, safety, and welfare” of a child to include “a parent's affirmation of the child's gender identity.” Such a change opens the door for the state to intervene in a parent's decision to go against the whims of their child’s most recent phase. 

One of the bill’s co-authors, Scott Weiner (D), is also attempting to push a bill in the California legislature that would force foster parents to conform to their foster children’s transgender beliefs. That bill, SB 407, has passed through the California Senate and will be heading to the State Assembly next.

“Every child deserves to be one hundred percent supported at home,” said Wiener in a statement. “SB 407 ensures that foster youth receive this essential support by specifically requiring LGBTQ acceptance be considered in the resource family approval (RFA) process, creating standard documentation for the assessment of LGBTQ youth needs, and ensuring more frequent follow-up. These youth are at high risk for homelessness, criminal justice involvement, and mental health issues, and we must do everything in our power to ensure they have a safe home in the state of California.”

Of course, not everyone in California is so gung-ho about the hyper-woke agenda that is being pushed through the state legislature. Many parents are concerned about the ramifications of such bills on their ability to parent their children properly. 

"When you say that gender affirmation is in the child's best interest for health, safety, and welfare, it takes nothing to say [non-affirmation] is now abuse—because you're not taking care of the health, safety, and welfare if you’re not affirming them," said Erin Friday, a co-lead of the parent coalition Our Duty, per The Washington Free Beacon.

"It's not a giant leap–it's a tiny step to get there," Friday added. "We know exactly where they are going with it. I didn't think the bill could get worse, but it got worse."

The state of California continues to push its LGBTQ agenda into parents' homes and is actively working to revoke their rights to raise their children. The state is well past the idea of wanting the LGBTQ to be able to exist and is now looking to glorify the community in everyone’s lives whether they want it or not.
